Noobie With Questions

    I am a guy considering a Prius. Right now I drive an 08 caliber which is also my wife's.
    I drive at least 50 miles a day and we are considering a second car. We've looked at a Jetta TDi our friends love theirs. But we also have frends with a Prius who adore theirs. I've researched though many hours of material to know I'd love a prius but I have a few questions.


    What years have push button starts if any?
    I'm 6"4 would I fit?
    Which year is the best Prius year?

    What do you love about your Prius?

    I love the look of the new Prius V.

    At least from 2004 on, they are all push button start

    I weigh 360 but am only 5'10", I fit.

    Newer is better than older, the 2010 was a new model, there might have been some teething, but not much.

    My husband is also 6'4". He is not really comfortable in my Prius, but I have read about some mods to change the driver's seat. The best way to tell is to get to a dealer and drive one.

    I saw the Prius V is extended up by 3 inches. I really like what I see.

    The only thing I would change on my '06 is the drivers seat rails. The upgrade isn't cheap. So, I kinda live with it. Otherwise, I wouldn't change anything else. I'm 6' 3".

    I think that your body proportion is more important than just height. I'm 6'3" and fit fine in the 2nd Geniii Prius but I do recline the seat back more than some and my legs are proportional to my torso. My friend is 6'5" but his legs are really long so he doesn't fit well in my car. His knees touch the dash.

    TheGeniii may be a better choice but they costs more. The Prius v may be an even better option but it will likely be more expensive than your other options.

    I'm 6'3" and mine fits well enough. Get one for an extended test drive. Renting one for a week would be ideal.

    1. 2004 and onwards had the push button start.

    2. Depends on your body/torso. I did find the 3rd Gen (2010+) Prius front seats to be more comfortable than the 2004-2009 2nd generation

    3. Umm, depends what you want. If it's used, 2006-2009. If you want new, well there's 2011 =)

    4. I love the mileage and the technology in it (I got the Canadian Tech Pack)

    If $230 isn't cheep, then it isn't cheep. imo that's a DEAL. Many cars don't let seats go back far enough. Even at 6'-5" I found the "extendmyseat.com" brackets perfect ... once installed, there was great leg room. Jimbo and I did reviews here:

    I am 6'3" with a 32 inseam and I purchased the extend my seat rails for my Gen III. The best investment I have made. My Comfort level in the seats increased dramatically.

    I'd say if you're getting a Prius then go for the 3rd Generation. I love how smooth my drive is and how rarely I have the need pull over for gas!
