I replied to your PM with a little more info. But the answer to both questions is no. The ride is no better and they are no quieter. But those two qualities don't matter to me, I am more interested in performance. I should also add that the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S is not an LRR tire and mileage is no better than the OEM Toyo A20s.

F8Ls recommendations may be better for most Prius drivers.

However after 4K miles I am very happy with the way the car drives with the Pilot Sport tires, handling, tracking, etc. They seem to suit my driving style and I would buy them again.

What was the mpg loss vs. the stock setup? I still suffer a large MPG loss with the 17" MXM4s compared to my 15" Yokohama tires.

Please don't think I am trying to one-up you, my friend. :)

Certainly not, I really think after a recent trip that your recommendation would be better for most owners than mine.

I am not sure about the mileage yet, I just finished a trip through parts of Idaho and Montana (Museum of the Rockies was great). My mileage for that trip was about 1 or 2 mpg less than what I had been getting on similar excursions. But one trip really isn't enough to tell.

Mileage was about 48 mpg average speed 53 mph; previous trip over similar terrain was about 50 mpg. Of course keep in mind my OEM tires were also 215/45-17 so I didn't change sizes.

Ok cool. I just felt my post came across rather rudely.

Oh real quick, where in eastern Oregon are you located? I lived in Ontario for some time when I was young. :)

I go through Ontario a couple of times a year. I live in Hermiston, ended up here when I worked on the power system.

Actually you guys may want to take a closer look at the Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires. Compared to the other all season tires Michelin makes in the 215/45-17 size they come in first in virtually every category.

My opinion on noise and ride quality may have been a bit to pessimistic. If you have any interest in non-LRR tires do a comparison of the 5 Michelin all season tires and see what you think.http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?width=215%2F&ratio=45&diameter=17

You guys have me confused: there's an entire Canadian province in Oregon, LOL?

I have just put 30,000 on my 2010. I have been rotating the tire every 5,000. I was told I have at least 15,000-20,000 more miles on them.

Just make sure you are comparing the Pilot Sport A/S to the Primacy MXM4 not the Pilot MXM4. When you do that you will find their ratings to be nearly identical but the MXM4 is $175 cheaper when you buy four and it is LRR rated. :)

Which tire did your Prius come with?
