Goober, Any chance I could get the navigation DVD from your totaled 09 before it goes away? I'd be happy to pay you shipping and some additional handling :)

Actually, both side airbags deployed since we got pushed onto the curb.

I will see about getting the nav dvd, but I can't promise anything. Since technically that's part of the car and not a personal possession, I'm not sure they'd let me grab it.

I'm sorry about the accident, and I hope that you're both still doing OK!

Your car was in excellent shape and had low miles. I hope the other person's insurance company does right by you. If not, then some sniveling, bottom feeding, bed wetting attorney will get to make some money from them on your behalf I guess....

BTW....If the insurance company totals the car, then the NAV unit belongs to them now. Just sayin....;)

    GOOD LUCK!
The '11s look good in grey too, although you may want to consider BWP, which also looks pretty good, and is easier to keep clean.
You can also see it more easily! :D

I did test drive a 2011 the other day but it was a package 2. I'm not too interested in leather, so a package 3 with nav would be the closest thing to match what I did have.

The problem is supply and demand. Most dealerships I've talked to want to charge out the nose for one of those, at least MSRP.

I haven't found out from insurance what I'm supposed to get back, but I think it'll suck if I have to shell out a couple thousand out of my own pocket to pay for something that wasn't my fault.

Does anyone know what a fair price to pay is for a 2011 (any color) with nav? Solar package would be pretty sweet too, so I wouldn't be heartbroken if I had to shell out a little more for that.

i would think the seat airbag went off too... at least I hope so. If it doesn't get repaired, there are some great parts there. I wouldn't think any of the hybrid bits were affected at all, which means it may even be a salvage titled car eventually that won't be a horrible learning experience for someone.

Nice to see that Toyota's buyer protection plan worked as designed and kept you safe.

This comment is outrageous. Obviously he did not keep a safe distance from the car in front of him. And now you even blame the guy that got rear ended.   Thank god you guys are not near my town.

Just talked with the total loss department with my insurance company, and it turns out I made almost $500 for driving a two year old car. I didn't think anyone ever made money driving a car.

While I'm actually very sad I won't get to get old with "The Smoke Monster" (Lost reference), I'm happy it kept my wife and me safe.

I'm officially looking for a Prius 3 with Nav and possibly solar package. :)

Bro, I'm very happy you and your wife are safe. I'm glad "The Smoke Monster" took one for the team.

I test drove a 2011 Prius 2 the other day and really liked it, but I really want nav again mainly because of the backup camera. I personally feel that it's dumb that you can't get a backup camera without getting nav, but I'm not in the factory building these cars.
Sure I could get a Rosen or similar unit and a backup cam and have someone install it for me (I'm very mechanically challenged. Anything harder than changing a light bulb is too much for me.), but I just prefer getting factory options.

I just got an offer an on a 2010 Prius 4 with solar and nav with 50,000 miles for $24,900. I'm kind of torn now.

Is that at O'Brien Toyota? I was down there a few weeks ago and all they had then was a used Gen II.

Hold out and buy a new Prius. Why get someones used car. Get that new smelling clean as a whistle car. You deserve it.

    No, it's from KC Summers.

I bought my '09 from O'Brien partially because it was right down the road from my house and partially because I got it for what I feel was a great price.

Currently though, I'm getting quoted MSRP which is just a tad on the high side of what I want to pay.

Maybe check Chicago, Indy, Louisville or St Louis for dealers that will deal on a new Prii. The O'Brien people were nice to talk to. I had some spare time and walked around a few of their stores. I check out dealers in my travels so I hope to find a nice one to buy my new car at next spring. There are a couple Toyota dealers in Orlando that were super nice, but that is a bit of a drive from your town

I just wanted to say I too am glad to hear you and your wife are Ok.

After seeing the pictures that you posted, I have no doubt you folks had a rough ride through it. I am further glad that you were protected by the safety features of the car.

I have been looking at the new models myself here in the Houston area. Most of the dealers I have been talking to have new ones on the lot, but they want MSRP or higher in most places for the new ones. Even the used one's are rather high priced down here.

I too would recommend you get yourself a lawyer and get every penny you can. Even if the insurance company did pay you enough to get you into another vehicle, if the accident was not your fault you will miss out on $'s you could have gotten otherwise. A good lawyer will take cases like this on a pro bono basis. You don't pay unless you win. Most of the time you will get a lot more than what the insurance company would have given you. I am speaking from experience as I have been in a couple of accidents over the years. I remember how I was treated by the insurance companies in those accidents which were not my fault.

I hope you get the new Prius with everything you want. You deserve that much. It is only fair considering what happened and what you had before the accident.

What is most important though is that you and your wife are Ok.
