Help! Just got my Prius and a light is out!

    Hi everyone, this is my first post. :) I got a 2007 Prius this weekend and when I got home I noticed one of the lights was out. It's the passenger's side one that's little, yellow, on the side. I don't know anything about cars! What is that light called and does anyone know how much it would cost to be replaced at the dealership if I had to pay?

    Also, I want to be able to check my psi on my tires, how do I do this and what do I need?

    If you just purchased the car from the dealer a few days ago, they should be willing to replace the parking light at no charge.

    As for tire pressure, the OEM recommended pressures are posted on the driver's side door jam near the bottom. However, most drivers pump up the pressure more than what Toyota recommends for better gas mileage and tire wear. I run mine at 40 psi front, and 38 psi rear. Many run 42/40, but I prefer a smoother ride. Just don't exceed the max tire pressure displayed on the sidewall of the tire.

    Congratulations on buying a Prius!

    I agree, if it has only been a few days, the seller should be willing, if not legally obligated, to correct any deficiencies.

    There are a few hybrid shops Oregon. Try them out for maintenance and repairs -- it will save you money in the long run, and there should not be nearly the pressure to pay for services that you don't need, such as fuel injector cleaning. You do not need a Toyota dealer for anything other than warranty work.

    I remember the excitement waiting for my 2007 Prius to come in. Every month since than I remain excited with all the features of this wonderful car. But Best Of All The Gas Savings, I get 56 MPG for the last 4 years.

    I hope you enjoy your new baby as much as I do mine.

    Thanks a lot guys! The problem was a burnt out 'indicator light'. Since I live about an hour away from the dealership and didn't want to drive there, I went to the auto parts store and asked for help. The guy told me which bulb I needed and after I asked nicely, he helped me put it in. :) I made sure to learn how he did it so I can do it by myself next time.

    Man, I sure wish I had someone to teach me some basic mechanics! I would've paid a lot more had I had this problem in the future and taken my Prius to a dealership! I only paid $3.99 for the light bulb!:p
