We have three dealerships in the area. I liked Toyota Of Lompoc, where we bought our 2010 with no hassles. However the larger and closer ones are Toyota San Luis Obispo and Toyota Of Santa Maria. Santa Maria is " Signature Certified " if that is important. I've had service done at SLO and that was a good experience. Also, that's where I currently have my deposit for a PHV. So with Lompoc being the smallest, maybe Santa Maria or SLO for here on the Central Coast of CA.

Hi Steve - Thanks for your input and thoughts. The point regarding USAA and AAA is actually why we are starting this program with the Plug-In product. There won't be any USAA or AAA programs available for those who pre-order their Plug-In through Toyota, and even for the vehicles coming through normal allocations, I highly doubt that they will be available through the USAA and AAA discount programs until inventory starts to increase (at least 1 year).

The idea behind the program is that everyone wins - the dealer, the customer, and PriusChat. PriusChat will be seeking a "referral" fee, the dealer will be selling cars that they would most likely not otherwise be selling, and the customer gets a discounted price and (most likely) some PriusChat swag and a year-long Premium Membership. The PC Premium Membership will give the PriusChat member some yet-to-be-announced benefits on the site and with the partner dealership.

The dealers I have spoken to so far have been very receptive to the program and I hope to start hammering out agreements soon once pricing has been nailed down.

Please keep the dealership recommendations coming! I'm compiling a list!

Thanks "Eagle"! But we will not see any until 2013 as mentioned previously.

    Great idea.
I live in GA and would be interested in a recommended dealer in Norfolk or VA Beach.
I did make contact with one dealer there after checking ratings on Edmunds.com and they didn't really have a good idea on the order process for the plug-in and for coming out of state.
Maybe someone in Toyota marketing will be able to fill in the blanks?

    Thanks,

Same here, coming from GA, want a good VA dealership. Mine doesn't have to be VA Beach area but since we used to live in NN I wouldn't mind visiting again so maybe we can caravan up and back.

I would recommend Expressway Toyota in Dorchester MA - Bill Benjamin is great. Also Smithtown Toyota on Long Island, NY. Their sales people seem reasonably honest and knowledgeable, and their service department goes out of their way to be helpful and honest.

I recommend Desert Toyota, Tucson, AZ. Joe Baechler is their Prius Specialist. Joe has been really helpful in my dealings with him.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. It does seem like you have a bit of a window to make this work while the plug-in remains out of the nationwide car buying programs. I think that you have an opportunity here as long as you can demonstrate value, especially on the dealer end. Best of luck!

I'm suggesting Magnussen's Toyota in Auburn CA. They are IMO the best dealer in the Sacramento area. Every dealer I called for service on my transaxle fluid change quoted me crazy prices because they didn't know what they were talking about. This dealer treated me fairly and were very helpful. They also regularly donate to my work which strives to protect natural and agricultural lands in my County.

I'll see if they are interested and have my contact there get a hold of Danny.

If you live in the Bay Area I would recommend Putnam Toyota of Burlingame.

We bought our 2010 Prius there and everything was very straight forward with no surprises (exactly as we had worked out through email). We had a great experience working with Andrey Kamenetsky and have already communicated with him directly that there will be no hidden "delivery fees" or anything of that nature when we take delivery of our new Prius PHV.

After working with 6 other Bay Area Toyota dealers concerning out last two Prii purchases, I can definitely say that Andrey was above and beyond everyone else.

Will the PriusChat "Certified Dealer" Program be rolled out prior to the Prius Plug-in ordering web site going live?

It's been 11 years since I bought my last car, so I don't have any recent experience to recommend a specific Toyota dealer in my area. I'd be happy to purchase from any Toyota dealer within 50 miles of Sacramento, if they were selling the car below MSRP (so far, all of the dealers I've contacted have only offered MSRP).

I don't know about sales but the service department at Magnusson Toyota in Auburn has been excellent and they didn't try to overcharge me for services like every other dealer in the Sacramento area did. I will definitely be checking in with them for my next car purchase.

    Question to Danny:
Now that they have announced pricing and the ordering process, I suspect that in the very near future, we are going to get an email asking us to place our orders. Once it happens, I am sure that people are going to want to order ASAP. Is there any information that you can share with regard to dealers/discounts?
    Thanks

    Hi SimiPrius -

The plan is to have all of our partner dealers signed up and ready to go by the time Toyota opens up the online ordering system next month. Toyota isn't exactly sure yet when in October that the ordering system will go live, but I'm hoping to have everything in place by the 1st of October.

    Danny,

Thanks - I can also add that this weekend I added a 2010 IV to the stable through Bob Smith in La Crescenta, CA (Near Pasadena) and in all the cars I have purchased over the years (probably 30) this was the easiest experience that I have ever had. We negotiated over the price for 15 minutes and then once the finance guy came in ( he was late) spent 10 minutes with him and we were out of there..A great experience.

With regard to the partner program, are you able to share any high level details yet such as pricing, etc.

    Thanks again.....
