I am new here. I am a new Prius owner, purchased a used 2009 Prius in April. The radio that it came with is not very satisfactory, and I am wanting to put in a pioneer headunit with speakers. The headunit I am wanting to use is a Pioneer DEH-P3000IB.

Is the bracket that comes from Crutchfield satisfactory or is there another bracket that would work better?

    Will the MFD still work?

What would then happen if I try to access the "Audio" section on the MFD?

    What about steering wheel controls?

And anything else special to know?

I am trying to make this a DIY project, so any information on installing this would be helpful :) Thanks!

Yes the MFD will still work

No you don't need special brackets unless you plan on removing your oem stereo

You can purchase an adapter module that allows you to retain steering wheel controls

Nothing bad will happen if you try to turn the oem stereo on. It just powers up but not sound will come out since the speaker wire harness is now going to the aftermarket stereo.

Yes I am planning on removing the OEM stereo. I think I read something about needing a resistor?

Yup. If you remove the factory stereo you need resistors. If you leave the factory one in place then you need two wiring harnesses. Personally I would not remove it unless you are using an aftermarket double DIN sized stereo. A single DIN will look bad even with an install kit.
