Yeah, that MFD looks awesome. I think the increased resolution is enough to make me want to get the NAV system--that's the highest resolution nav system I've ever seen (unless it's one of those fake and artificially nice renderings; has anyone actually seen the screen to verify its resolution is really like what the picture shows?).

I also notice that the dark grey is very dark--anyone with insight as to whether the rendering makes it look darker than it really is?

On the radio screen, I notice a few items that are interesting:

    1. "ASL" in the bottom left corner
    2. "MSG" and "TRAF" in the bottom right corner

    Anyone know what these mean?

Per the 2006 manual (on techinfo.toyota.com), the ASL option is only on the Type 1 stereo, which is the top of the 3 options. It stands for Adaptive Sound Level, and it apparently is designed to dynamically change the volume of the stereo to account for increasing and decreasing ambient road noise. In another thread, I asked whether this was something found in pre-2006's. I haven't seen a response.

The MSG and TRAF buttons are (from the same manual) for messages and traffic information that are available (possibly) over-the-air from radio stations. At least some of this functionality is in '04s and '05s (someone who owns one will need to chime in). Few radio stations, however, support the standard in the US.

An intriguing idea, however, is that may be changing. XM is supposed to be working on a traffic data service in major metros (where they have terresterial repeaters), and starting in March 2006, XM radios will be dealer-installed options for the Prius (see the eBrochure on toyota.com). Perhaps the TRAF button will be integrated into the XM service?

You can buy from another area and either have it delivered to you or go get it.

Where are you seeing this ?

It does seem hard to find much about the warranty straight from Toyota's page...
I do see comments here: http://hybridcars.about.com/od/toyotaprius...PriusProfil.htm
which indicate it has not changes.. but I would feel better seeing it on toyotas page... All I can find is 2005 stuff.

If the package you want doesn't show up on the website for your region, just unbunch your undies and go to your dealer and they will bring in the one you want.

Don't expect to see an unplanned package sitting on the lot (if they ever caught up to demand and these cars did actually sit on the lot).

I went to a dealer in RI and he said that he can custom order package 8 for me even though it is not planned for NE.
What I didin't tell him was that I already have a Prius

The only problem is that I have a trade in (actually 2 of them) and this makes it basically impossible to go out of state. Selling on my own is not going to happen either since I have tried that before and have no desire to do it again. We don't have anything like CarMax out here where I could have them buy it outright.

I guess I will talk to the dealer about whether it is possible to get an 8 from another area. I will also look at the cloth to see how it looks but I have not had a cloth interior since 1992. I will alos be waiting until spring to purchase anything with the winter weather coming.

    Windstrings,
I do see the comments on your link above but in the downloadable eBrochure on page 12 of the Toyota site there is simply no mention of any Hybid-Related Component coverage. Was it mentioned in the 2005 brochure?

Yea.. I noticed that too..... It may have been a mistake?
At any rate whats important is whether its still covered in the "Extended Coverage"
Since that will superceed any of the others anyway....

But I am still concerned if Toyota has dropped it or not?

Oh, crikey! That's gorgeous! If my Seaside Pearl or Black package #8 looks to be taking longer than I expect (ie: into March or April) I may just hold out another few months for the Magnetic Gray.

Thanks for pointing that out Danny, I was just about to ask if it was just me or if it looked a little different.

The 360 view is amazing!... note the shift and control key for zoom functions!

Does the dash look more rounded on top or is it just the angle?

The BaP 360 Views are of the 2005 Prius

Don't count on the 360 views for 2006 information. The site says they're the 2005 model.

I went to the dealer and looked at a color chip. It is not a "light blue". But that's ok with me. I have one on order.
