I'm a soon-to-be Prius owner and I'm interesed in buying an unlocked SE K750i. I want to know if anyone has one, and how does it pair with your Prius?

I did some research and found a message from a woman in the UK, who says the phone/car stop pairing after 5 minutes.

It's not listed on the Toyota/Bluetooth phone list, but I'm not sure if that's because it won't work, or because it's not offered by cell companies in the U.S. yet. It's a bluetooth/GSM phone.

    Thanks!

I wouldn't be too concerned about the phone not being on Toyota's "approved list" of phones. It is a pretty short list, after all, and there are plenty of phones that do not appear on that list but, from various reports, work fine with the Prius.

Re the problem with the phone pairing and then discontinuing, I have to wonder whether that's related to some sort of power-save feature. I obviously don't own that handset so I can only speculate and really can't offer much beyond that (however, it is a good sign that the phone, initially at least, pairs with the car). But really, the fact that the phone is not sold by any U.S. carrier and, apparently, few people in this country own one, may be problematic in terms of support.

Thanks for the advice Tag. The phone will be sold in the U.S., but it may take a while. I really want to transfer the entire phone book too, so I should probably buy the S710 for now, and wait on the super duper but not sold in the U.S. phone.

    Thanks!

In short: the K750i works fine.

    Long answer:
No reason why it shouldn't work. Any tri- or quad-band GSM phone for sale in Europe will work on any US GSM cell network.

As far as disconnections go, this is certainly a settings issue. New SE phones let you choose how they should behave with handsfree/handset accessories and they also feature Powersave.

I am in the process of buying a Prius and so I took one for a one day testdrive recently. Wanting to make sure that all of the phones in our family would work properly, I tested it with a SE K750i, SE V600i and a Nokia 6630. No problems at all as far as connectivity/usability. The only issue I had was that the Nokia phone couldn't transfer the address book at once (Nokia's fault).

Edit: the K750i will transfer it's phonebook, but the limitations of the Prius' phonebook remain obviously.

Thanks Alex! Now I'm back on the 750i bandwagon! I love SE phones and when a friend in the UK told me about the 750i I HAD to have it.

My pleasure. Only thing to bear in mind (unrelated to the Prius) if you already have many SE accessories. The K750i ist the first new SE phone in many years with a new connection port. So chargers, desk stands, USB cables etc. you may have from other SE phones become obsolete. Brilliant phone though.

There are a few people at my university that have K750i (kinda scary when I did a bluetooth search at the SUB and turned up so many responses). They should be okay to use on a carrier here.

I have a SonyEricsson 750i, and currently I am experiencing the same problem in our Prius. My boss has the same phone, but doesn't have that problem. For some reason I also didn't have that problem in a different Prius when somebody changed something in my phone....
so...Up to me to find out what that person changed in my phone settings, and why it is now working in a different Prius than the one I usually drive...

So, yes, my Bluetooth disconnects all the time after a few minutes and I don't know why. It is a matter of settings, so feel comfortably buying a 750i anyway. SonyEricsson rules :)

If anybody can tell me how to change the pairmodus on my 750i, DO let me know.
