I am looking at a 2011 not sure what model. My questions are: How is the pricing on new cars. We recently purchased a home near Newport. We now live in California but I would like to purchase the car in Oregon, to avoid paying sales tax and the high license fees. What are the registration fees for a new Prius, I heard it's a flat fee. In Calif. it would probably run $400-500 per year. Do I need an Oregon drivers license or can I just use my Oregon address. Are there any recommended dealers in Central Oregon.
As a California resident you are legally and morally required to pay for registration in California. The CHP will will ticket you if you have a California drivers licence and an Oregon registration in the same name. If you give them a hard time, or they don't like your looks, they can write it up as a felony.
