Ok, so with Setup 1 and per post #7 you were getting LED flashing. Refer "LED Feedback" section in ASWC PDF. What does it tell you?

This is the video that I took yesterday during lunch (before I tried installing the Metra 70-8114 that night and then reverting back to setup 1).

    Metra ASWC blinking on Vimeo

During the beginning of the video, the red light might seem it's steady but it's actually blinking pretty fast. Afterwards, it blinks 4 times at a slower pace, a pause, then blinks two more times, a pause, and then 4 times at a faster pace. Finally, after another pause, the red light just keeps blinking at a slower pace.

According to the "LED Feedback" of the Metra ASWC PDF, the last four fast blinks means that I have Sony radio, which I do. As for the "4 times at a slower pace, a pause, then blinks two more times," I'm not really 100% sure what it means. On the PDF it says, there are suppose to be seven blinks in the first set of blinks, each blink representing a colored wire. In my case, there are only 4 blinks, a pause, and 2 more blinks, and I'm guessing (I'm pretty sure I'm wrong though) the pause means that the 5th wire (Black/Green) is not connected. But after reviewing my connections, it is connected.

I emailed Metra's tech support, providing them the video, and hopefully they could give me some clarity with the blinks.

Yea, I would double check the 5th (Black/Green) wire. If you have multi-meter, use it to check the continuity.
