well, it's far from being completely protected, but at least I had 3M scotch guard films installed in addition to XPEL roof (2.75"x60"), Lamin-x rear bumper (4"x48"), head light films and tinted windows (50F, 35R)

XPEL film was installed based on the fact that many people have reported of rock chip in the area right above front windshield.

I have an installer in NJ with 17 years of experience who had done tinted window on our Matrix and Subaru few years back.

Installation took a little over 6 hours and everything came out amazing. I will post pictures soon when I get a chance.

I purchased 3M scotch guard kit (hood, fender, bumper, mirror and headlight) from eBay vendor for under $300 and labor was $225 for everything.

Overall, total cost was less than $800 for tinted windows and full front end 3M kit plus part of roof/rear bumper.

    :)

Do you have slip covers on your sofas and chairs at home ?

(Just kidding. Please share pictures and your experience with this type of protection.)

Yeah, pics please. I travel up and down 95 in MD and have too many stone chips to care about anymore, after a year and a half. I want to get the new Prius v, and I will definitely take a similar measure with that one.

I was in NC on 17 below Wilmington this Summer, and got about 10 lbs of loose asphalt on the hood of my Prius from the back of a paving truck. Yeesh.

I lucky/unlucky. The dealer dinged my front bumper and had it repaired and repainted. Now the chips are gone. Soon to return. :)

Sorry about sidetracking a thread, but were you just passing through the area or staying at one of the area beaches? Too bad you were left with memories of asphalt on your hood !!

I see these asphalt and gravel trucks on my daily commute all of the time. They have even starting painting "Stay Back 200 Feet" and "Not Responsible for Broken Windshields" on the back of the trucks as they drop gravel all over the road

I was traveling from Wilmington to Myrtle Beach, and the truck was sort of in heavy traffic, so I didn't have much of a choice. Then we hit a bridge and it started dumping asphalt. It was like a small avalanche. Fortunately, only a scrape or two, no dents.
