I own a 2010 prius, have enjoyed the car. However, set out on a 6 hour trip this morning only to find I have no sound emanating from the speakers. FM, AM, CD or satellite all show on the screen that I am listening to something. But, the volume knob doesn't turn the sound up. Neither will the steering wheel buttons. The display used to show a numerical value for the volume. But nothing. Anybody had "this" problem before?

Same thing happened to me last week to my 2010 III. My car was in the body shop for some minor repair and when I picked it up I noticed tha they had also detailed it inside and out. No Problem.......until I noticed on the way home that the volume read O even when I tried to turn it up by the knob or steering wheel. Come to find out that when the guy was detailing the dash he had sprayed some cleaner that got into the cd player opening and shorted part of the circut board that sits behind and is part of the front panel of the radio. Is it possible that some liquid got sprayed when cleaning? The dealer replaced the radio with a new one at his expense. The only way I was able to demonstrate that something got in there was the fact that the radio viewing window had some milky haze that was not there before. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the post. I brought it to my dealer and all they can do is replace the whole unit which is quoted at $1,982. Luckily at no cost to me, under warranty. However, I still have to burn a half day bringing the car in for the service. All because the volume suddenly doesn't work.
