Recommended tire pressure for Hankook Optimo H727 ?

    This website is chock full of great advice; I am reminded that there is so much to learn.
    I have a 2003 and a 2005 Prius.
    When I picked up the 2005 model, I had the dealer replace the OEM tires with Michelin Hydroedge. (Thank you very much, john1701a .)
    At that time, the OEM tires on the 2003 were worn out and ready to be replaced, so that car also got a new set of Hydroedge.
    Fast forward six years.
    The tires have worked out just fine.
    Both cars still have plenty of tread, and reasonably even wear, but they also have sidewall cracking, which I am told is to be expected after 5-6 years.
    The tire pressure has been 42 psi front, and 40 psi rear for both cars during all that time, based upon the recommendations of john1701a and others.

    Now, both cars are getting new Hankook H727 tires that CR and many Prius folks seem to like.
    Does anyone have an opinion about what pressure to maintain in the tires?
    At the moment I have them set at 40/38 until smarter people than I share their thoughts.

    It's really up to you. Generally a tire can safely be run at it's max pressure list on the tire. A lot of people go even higher but we do not recommend such high pressure due to unknown risks. I think running as close to the max listed pressure is fine as long as you feel comfortable and the ride is not took harsh.

    I always run at the max pressure or just below if ride comfort is too harsh.

    On our Optimo's we run "door" pressure with same mileage and great ride and handling (relative to before). Did go to 195/60/15.

    I run Hankook kinergy eco k425, but use 205/55/16 size at 38F-36R. MPG has improved over the Bridgestone Turanzas OEM even though the tyres are not yet run in, ride is very quiet and handling much improved. I do not feel the need to go with higher pressures but will keep an eye on tread wear and adjust accordingly.
