i know on the 2004-2005 prius' there were not any option for a backup camera... is it possible to add one in? if so how hard is it and is it just worth it to just opt for an 06 model? there is a good deal 04-05 ones in my area... and if it wasn't too complex i would like to somehow add a back up camera to it.
or if the 06 came with better upgraded options and it's worth it, i'll wait for an 06+
    thanks!

Well I just ordered a backup camera for my 05 Prius. I am going to install it with Kenwood DNX6160, not sure if the stock MFD has support for it. If you look on the back right above license plate there is a cut out for camera so you can install it without modification, just have to run wires from the back to the head unit.

Some cameras will come with their own screens, though in that case you need to find a place to mount the screen (and those are more expensive). The other option is to get a double-DIN head unit--the kind with a video touchscreen--that supports a backup camera input.

I think Coastal Electronics has a kit to "unlock" the backup camera input on a Prius that didn't come with it, but, as I recall, it's kind of expensive (though cheaper than a whole new stereo).
