To echo what scoobagirl said, I agree fully. I actually got the solar roof because I wanted a sun roof. If I could have gotten that alone, I would have. However, that wasn't option. Now, having the solar roof, I'm really impressed with how well it works. I'm actually glad I got the sun roof for the solar roof as well. Is it worth $2K in Upstate NY? Not often. Anywhere it is moderately sunny or hot, I think you'd appreciate it. It's nice to be able to keep your car sort of cool on hot days, but also water tight for when the thunderstorms roll through.

Anyone purchased a Solar Package in the greater Houston area recently? Looking for a super deal ... well as skinny as possible, all things considered... Thank you in advance... Wish we had a Diane out here <3

I live in northern Illinois, just south of the Wisconsin border, so I'm not anywhere near Houston, but I just bought my Prius III last week, with the solar roof, for $500 under sticker, which included free car washes and a lifetime powertrain warranty. I'm skeptical of the warranty, but it didn't cost me anything (and allows me to do the maintenance myself) so...whatever.

Anyway, good luck with the search. The solar roof did not appear to be hard-to-find.

And one more thing: I was on the fence as to whether or not I should spring for the roof. But the moment I picked up the car, I was in love with it. It's a very cool option. I would have been disappointed if we had a nice day and I didn't get it.

Sounds like there is some movement in price of cars. Good luck. I got a great deal back in May 2010. My local dealer wasn't moving at all and saw and ad from a dealer a little further away and closed the deal the saturday I went..

I just bought a Prius III yesterday w/ Solar Roof package at Joe Myers Toyota. I think they have another one on the lot. Their month-end ends today, Nov. 1, at 5pm so they may be giving deals on their inventory. Doesn't hurt to ask. Go look for Kelvin Bean.

Btw, I'm new to the forum. Glad to be here and hope to learn more from y'all.

    Zanrok,

Call Duff Joy at Toyota Carlsbad. 760-438-2000. We bought a Black IV with solar, nav and mats for $700 below invoice. You lose leather in 2012, replaced with the synthetic material used in the new V. We drove a loaded V, the seats are kind of sticky vs leather. The new Nav is very nice though for 2012. Can live without the heads up display since the Prius dash design is so forward.

    Good Luck

    Thanks Yogi,

I think I am going to wait for the 2012. I have some great deals in my area for 11's but with something new right around the corner I gotta stick it out... plus I am more of a techy kind of guy. So Entune is a pretty slick deal for me. But who knows.. maybe Toyota will jack the prices up and I will revert to an 11 at that point.
