So I was using my scan tool and cleared the fault code for the 2006 Prius. After shutting down and disconnecting. My abs vsc ((!)) and parking brake lights are on. No fault code on scan tool. Is this something that just needs some mileage to reset automatically?

These were not on before. The check engine light is of course off! Easy fix?

Thank you so much. Hoping for no rain as abs no longer working.

    Justin

You need to jumper pins 4 and 13 on the DLC to get the ABS/VSC/EBC codes. Only a factory level scan tool or some ABS specific scan tools will be able to read them and reset them. Each light will blink out two digit codes -- for example, the ABS light flashing 4 times, pause, 2 times, is for ABS 42. If you push the brake pedal 8 times in 5 seconds with the DLC so jumpered, it will reset the codes. However, this has happened before, where somehow the zero points get undone when a generic scantool sends the reset. Only a factory level scan tool can calibrate zero points. Last time we heard this, it was a guy that got it at Sears. What kind of scan tool is yours?

Looks like I need to reset with a factory level tool, any recommendations on which model? Anyone aware of cost if dealer were to do this?

I should charge sears for this! Can anyone share why the sears model does this? What happend to previous user of sears scan tool?

    Thanks so much! JW

Thank you for your contributions. Im wondering if this is an easy fix, therefore hopefully cheap. Reason for buying the scan tool in the first place. I can also travel to Lancaster, Palmdale, CA areas.

The sears tool is made by Equus® and INNOVA®. CanOBD2. This product will be returned to Sears. Maybe we should have a sticky posted with warnings regarding this. I have also contacted the above maker, hoping they can get or pay for the issue there product caused. Justin
