I just changed my cabin air filter (lots of debris and lots of dust) and I replaced it with a new filter. However, after driving with the AC on from the parts store, I have yet to get the AC to cool all the way back down to a "normal" temp.

How long does it normally take to return to "normal"?
Or am I in for a bigger surprise?

That may have been the easiest DIY job I've ever done. Hard to believe the Dealer wants $100 for it! Thanks everyone . . .

I got mine from "simpleairfilters" on eBay for $2.99 it takes like 2 mins to replace it yourself. They have fast shipping, mine came next day. There's other ones for sale on there just as cheap too.

Our 07 Prius is due for a cabin filter replacement.

Curious to know what people are paying for filters these days and the best place to get them?

    Thanks!

Re: Check your Cabin Air Filter Today!

Took our Prius to local dealership for oil change.

    Regular Oil Change - $29.99 + Tax ~ $34.00

However, I was shown a worn out cabin filter and engine air filter and recommended that I change them immediately.

    Engine Air Filter - $28.75 + Tax ~ $32
    Cabin Air Filter = $31.80 + Tax ~ $35

Reading this thread made me feel, that I paid too much?

Ouch, that's a typical stealership rip off, sorry to say that. I bought an engine air filter from Napa for my 2002 E Class Benz for $22 and it was original Mann, also I bought online a set of cabin air filters ( the Benz uses two of them and they are about an inch thick) for $18 which was also Mann.

I learn NOT to go to stealership for any car because of my Benz, unless I'm looking for something really specific.

Good luck and enjoy the ride.

My dealer wanted to charge me $47.40 to do the cabin air filter.
So I bought one online for $6.50 shipped & will put in in myself.
Expect all of 2 min to do so. Thanks dealer you instill much
    confidence in you as always.

I replaced mine with the FRAM CF9846A Fresh Breeze. I bought it on Amazon for $14. It took about 5 minutes to install and saved me about $30. The dealers here wanted to charge me $45 for the installation of it. Ridiculous.

It is so worth it to take the couple of minutes to do this yourself. My dealership wanted $65 to do it. Enough to purchase 3 cabin air filters plus!

It is well worth it to me. It is about a 5 minute job and you can buy the filters for about $15. The Owner's Manual will show you how to get to the filter.

Jiffy Pube is notorious for upselling. I always tell them I change the filters myself and not to bother. One time the guy pulled out the cabin air filter and said they're running a special!! It's only $39.95 installed!!!! It takes 2 minutes to do and I do it every few months. You'd be surprised how much debris that filter traps in just a short period of time.

I just vacuum and blow the stock filter according to air movement then placed it beneath the sun ray for UV bombardment sterilization.

I liked the stock components since it fits the best, guys. Check the dimension of your replacement. Hahaha...likely it wasn't made just for Prius.

I'm going to steal bagwell's picture for reference.

CanadianTire doesn't stock MicronAir particulate filters any more and they've gone with the FRAM Freshbreeze as pictured below. It's a dollar or two more than the MicronAir particulate filter but it seems like this one has some sort of charcoal filtering too (says so on the box and evident by the black-looking nature of the filter as opposed to the typical white).

Ask the automotive parts department to see what the part number is for your vehicle. They'll have a database with it. After you get it, save the box so that in the future, you don't have to ask them again. I don't know which one will fit the Gen 2 since they use a thinner filter so it'll be a different part number than the Gen 3.
