Does anyone have pictures of the 2012 Camry in Clearwater Blue? My local dealership doesn't expect delivery of one until November which will probably be too late. The Camry brochure shows the car in shade and it looks to be almost a gray-blue (which I love) but the pictures I've seen on the internet look to be more of a plain "boring" blue.

    Silver Pine Mica?

It certainly looks nicer in real life. It's known as the Aqua Blue in Japan and based on photos from 2009 and 2010, it looked paler.

    It's just a few posts up ^

I just noticed in the pictures there is a strip on the front and back that is silver on all car colors. The photos of the Gen III refresh do not have this, so this appears to be a Plug-In specific difference, like the silver door handles which I did notice earlier.

I was wondering what people thought of this.

My opinion is that it clashes since the strips are so large. The silver door handles are small enough that they can work as color accents. The strips look like a car repaired with mismatched body panels. Actually, the front strip is not too bad depending on the color, but the rear strip looks out of place with most colors.

Previously I was considering gray, but now I'm leaning toward silver so the color is uniform.

I don't understand why no Red. I was/am all set to trade my 2008 for the PIP and now I may wait. Call me shallow, but I like bold colors. Since the reason to buy a PIP is not financial, I might as well like the color.

I like the front bumper accent myself. The silver-painted portion with a tiny sliver of chrome adds a little pizzazz the front end. I don't really like the silver strip in the back.

I was really hoping for Desert Sand, I think the color looks great on the Gen III. I have settled on White although it really bugs me that they charge an additional $250 for that color. I am still wavering a bit on delaying my order to actually see what the colors look like in real life but I will probably just stick with White.

It's because it's not the plain, solid white you're getting. Blizzard Pearl is a 3-coat pearl paint and $250 isn't all that much for a sweet paint job (Up here, the German luxos can charge $800 for standard metallic paint!)

Oh I can tell you why no sandy beach or red ... and no blue ribbon.

First, sandy beach with a GRAY interior? That green's going to be unusual enough but with a gray interior, sorry --

The red's popularity has really waned. If it were a striking burgundy-ish, perhaps... like the salsa red pearl we had from 2004 to 2005 maybe. Barcelona red has too much "bright" in it. The orange and pink sparkles in that paint make it a less popular car for males. Sorry but it's just my opinion.

Lastly, the least popular colors in the states with the highest ratio of these cars kind of determined the color choices. The way I see it, we're lucky to even have a green to pick from. What surprised me was the lack of black.

I would love to see a Salsa Red Pearl 3G Prius or Prius v. On toyota.com, the Barcelona Red representation is much darker and almost looks like Salsa Red and it really looks sharp on the Prius v. It makes it more "stately" lol.

White is the only color I have seen on the 2012 Plug-in and I personally didn't see a "Sweet" paint job, infact the paint job on the one they had at the Santa Monica Alt Fuel Vehicle expo didn't look that great at all.

I have also been told by people who own white Gen II and Gen III cars that the paint is hard to match when you have dings and here in LA you are eventually going to get a ding unless you leave the car in your garage. It comes from trying to cram too many parking spaces into too little space.

I definetly feel like I am settling with white but I don't like any of the other colors so it's white or nothing.

As Diane said in her post, I am really suprised that they have no black although I wouldn't want black anyway there are lots of people who like black cars.

Maybe you saw it indoors? Blizzard Pearl has a nice sheen under the sunlight.

Gen 2 white is Alpine White (Super White) and a flat white. That one is easy to match. Blizzard Pearl on the Gen 3 is harder, yes because it's a more complex paint.

Every car I have had for the last 20 years has been black, so I am rather upset that it was not offered.

HOWEVER, living in Florida, the absolute deal breaker is probably no choice of interior. Dark Gray just DOES NOT work in the Florida Summer.

I am puzzled by the dark interior "Model T" (you can have whatever color you want as long as its black) mentality - and wonder if that is why they were not offered in Florida and Texas originally.

However if that were the case, Palm Springs in the Summer (not to mention Arizona) are NOT going to be happy times for the owners of this vehicle!

When I saw it in person on a 2012 Camry, it looked a lot lighter than those posted pictures. They seem to be in a little bit of shade.
I like the color but I am not sure I want to own a car that color for 10 years.
I guess bottom line, If I were buying today and it was on the lot I would choose it. (poor color selection on PIP)

I've seen a clearwater blue camry in person now, in bright sunlight, and yes it lightens up quite a bit in bright light. I still like it, though. Very pretty, and rich, but I can see where some people would find it too pastel.

(First Post): I am also considering winter gray or silver and was not aware of the different panel colors until pointed out here. Although silver is more uniform I am going with 1st choice gray. Rationale is that if buying a PIP might as well have it be more easily distinguished from "regular" Prii.

Here are a couple of sunlit pics. iPhone darkened the overall scene, but the color did not seem to wash out much in person, despite the bright sunshine.
