Brand new to the forum, but a long time Toyota owner/first time Prius owner.
We placed a deposit on Saturday for a V Five without the AT package (provided the dealer could find one to do a dealer swap). I just got the call that they are going to pick up a Magnetic Gray (our 1st choice) now, and hopefully we'll be able to make the deal this afternoon!
Paid pretty much MSRP, and traded a M-B GLK350. We're just tired of $60 fill ups every 4 days, and the new V wagon fits the bill perfectly.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Fotomoto, I just went to the pole and voted.
NYPrius, I like your "support the troops" sig line! There's a lot of truth to that in my opinion. I served in Iraq in 2005/2006, but I'll not get all political here.

    Thanks Again

Picked up my new 2012 Prius V 3 on Saturday. I traded a 2011 elantra, I hated it that much. This is my first toyota ever, so far I am loving the new car. I didn't buy the car for the gas mileage (the elantra averaged 33), it was the ride and visibility that I love. Still learning how to drive the hybrid and all its features, but I am sure it won't take long.

Congrats! The GLK is a guzzler. It's the same engine used in the C350 yet it consumes so much more!

You're right it was a guzzler. With our bike rack on the roof we averaged 19-21 mpg.

So the Prius v didnt arrive at the dealer until Monday evening so we picked it up yesterday afternoon.
    Some quick observations:
I really like the softex, very comfortable and looks great in dark gray.
It seems even more quiet than i remembered from the test drive.
It seems roomier than much larger cars.
My 10 year old has more leg room in the back than he did in the GLK, and he really digs the reclining back seats.
The navi/stereo interface is WAY more user friendly and intuitive than in the GLK.

Dont mean to bash on our former vehicle, just making some comparisons. So after a quick drive around town I had to leave the new car with my wife, and go out of town on business (driving a company vehicle unfortuantely). I'll post some pics this weekend, and probably have a few questions for you hybrid veterans on the forum.

As much as Toyota's nav can be a bit clumsy, I'd rather work than the COMAND or iDrive systems. Audi's new MMI looks interesting, especially with the multi-gesture touchpad.

I chose the baseline Prius and avoided the nav because I didn't like having to look down for my GPS. I enjoy having it in the field of view while I am driving forward. I put my garmin in the front left little window area, and even that is too much looking away from the road.

Sorry, to clarify; i never used tne COMAND system. Our GLK had the UMI which I never was a big fan of.

and I realise there's an error in my statement too lol. I meant to say "I'd rather work with that than with the COMAND or iDrive systems."

Oh ok. I don't think I've used the UMI system before.
