OEM Fog Light Kit

    Are these the genuine Toyota fog lights that come standard on the Prius 5? The switch that these lights have appear to be similar to the generic kit that Priuschat's store sells; is this the same set-up as the Prius 5?

    Has anyone tried this kit before? I am interested in buying one but would like to hear some opinions.

    I would say no to being OEM... they look exactly the same kit PC sells and the same kit I bought off of e-bay.

    Looks the same to me too. The switch on the V is on the headlight stalk, not the dash.

    Just ordered this kit from trdsparks, I will update this thread as I move forward with the installation process. I paid $135 shipped, which is a few bucks more than the priuschat store kit, but the kit from trdsparks will have an actual warranty that is a bit easier to deal with.

    The install instructions in the link give you the "legal" wires to tap so that the fogs only work on low beam. When you tap the brown wire in the Pchat instructions the the fogs work as long as any light function is on (park only, low and high). Good to know if your state has the annual inspections or you get a fix it ticket. Easy to change with a couple of new taps.

    Not sure if this is a stupid question, but how many people with fog lights really use them more than a few times a year?

    ^ they make great DRLs as well. So one could use them all the time.

    Here on the Monterey Peninsula, it is quite foggy most of the time. My headlights are probably on 95% of the time. I would definitely use the fog lights quite often.

    Anything is better than the gray plastic plugs Toyota came up with. Puts a little sparkle to the front end. Weird how they went back to the fogs in the grill for 2012, the outside corners makes more sense for coverage.

    I like to use fog lamps only in heavy snow. My concern with these lamps is the gap between the glass and trim. Seems like a good spot to let salt spray in. Anyone tried hi temp caulking here?
