Toyota Canada Prices 2012 Prius v; Costs less than Prius

    They've finally released the starting price for the Prius v and, I will say, I was surprised at the number.


    Cdn$27,200 :eek:. It's actually cheaper than the Prius! ($27,800).

    I've also noted that the top model that they have in their mini site shows a rear bumper protector and mudguards as part of the additional equipment (I suppose those will be accessories on the US model).

    I believe we're back below parity.

    We're still awaiting the price of the 2012 Camry Hybrid. The 2012 Camry LE starts at $23,700, $1,610 lower than the 2011 Camry LE which bodes well for a possible price reduction on the 2012 Camry Hybrid LE (currently, it sits near $32,000).

    I doubt it will be as low as $27,000 but it could be considering the US price puts it at $25k for the LE and $27k for the XLE. The reason is that people will look at the Camry Hybrid LE and the Prius and Prius v and go "well, they're all $27k, what do I really want? passenger space & highway comfort? passenger & cargo space? or maximum mileage & cool tech toys?"

    Yeah and you get more feature with this Prius V with some option group, im a little bit upset because i hope they will keep the Prius normal the same price, if not our Prius value will drop like ....... :( but on this Prius V the JBL is only available with the high tech group! But you get more feature like navigation and softex and heated seats and leather wrapped steering wheel! What do you think? But i also think they will sell more of those Prius than the normal Prius since probably for the majority of the people it look better and more practical!

    Ok, all I know is this is the kind of car I've been looking for, for several years.

    Few years ago I wished Toyota built something like a Hybrid Corolla Matrix. Well, the Prius v is it! Of course with a Prius class interior and nicely upsized over Matrix footprint.

    I like uber-practical, yet still quite fuel efficient, and this is it! It's the 44 MPG figure that just blows away any of the conventional Camry, Accord, Altima, Fusion figures which are all about 25 MPG.

    My Accord Coupe cannot beat 25 MPG in the city and it can be less if only short trips. I'll bet Prius v beats 44 MPG city in many cases. 2010 Prius has always got me a few over 50 MPG combined.

    I got 50mpg on the highway when a few of us headed over to Toyota HQ to test the Prius v this summer. I was using DRCC and took the all highway route. I was very surprised to see that big 5-0 (50.4 to be exact). Even Erica was impressed :D

    Well it's $33,350 for the Prius v Touring. Your 2010 Touring was $31k. So $2k-ish more for a bigger car with nav & SofTex but less mileage. Remember that the 2012 Prius pricing isn't out yet. It could very well go up in price because of the standard Display Audio System w/ nav. (which I suspect will go into the Premium w/ Solar and Touring packages). Hopefully they get the JBL audio too and it's not limited to the Technology Package (which most likely will get the Premium HDD 7" nav.

    I still find it odd that it's the old DVD-based nav and not the Premium HDD.

    Right ! see the "Comparably Equipped Price" from Toyota.ca... the Prius v is 600$ LESS than a comparable Prius :eek:

    First time I see this cause normally all other manufacturers a charging more for there hatch (roomier) models.

    Even on Toyota.com it's 23,520$ vs 26,400 which is 2,880$ MORE for the v

    @Tideland Prius maybe should put " ...cheaper than base Prius " in your title also because it is pretty unusual ;)

    Currently there is a "Customer Incentive – Save $2,500! " on the Gen 3 Prius that puts it at $25,300 ... :rolleyes:

    but without that incentive the v is cheaper ! :eek:

    (3km on odometer)

    Anybody got a better deal :)?

    Basically what I was saying is that there's a difference between AB's 5% GST only vs. say NS' 15% HST (ouch!). So I guess I should say 10%, not 7-8%

    I did. It says "Cost less than Prius". Or do you mean specifically say those exact words?

    So I checked, it appears to be HDD-based. I didn't see a DVD slot and when I click "Map Update", it says "insert DVD or flash drive" so I guess it's HDD based.
