Actually many new projects ARE using sun tracking to improve total power generated that GREATLY exceed (especially when considered over the 20+ year life of the system) the one time cost of those mechanisms. As with the price of panels decreasing with increased manufacturing... so hsa the costs of sun tracker mechanisms.
