Now this really doesn't make sense. Why would left or right hand drive have more or less space available?

Interesting selections... Toyota really plays a big international marketing game with options. I am really annoyed that the leather steering is not included in the high end pkgs 5,6,7 in the USA unless you order PKG 8. I would hate to switch to PKG 8 just for the leather steering. I have seen some after market pictures of leather installs but it does not match the factory job. Anyone has a different experience? Did the folks who had after market leather seating installs also upgraded the steering with leather?

Just because the dashboard loks "mirrored" on the outside (LHD vs RHD) - doesn't mean this is also the case underneath. Therefore this may impose space problems on the LHD models.

I realise that. I still think this is a Sales/Marketing Person fishing for some explanation.

Anyway, I guess between Norway, The Netherlands and Switzerland we will find out in a few months. ;-)

Yes, Alex - we will! :)

Seems my Prius has an ETA here the 28th of this month - so I believe I will pick it up at the dealer around the 15th of Jan.

Hi again. It's been a few months, but eventually even Toyota Switzerland managed to get the new official pricelist out. Unfortunately (although initially stated differently) it turns out that IPA cannot be had together with the JBL/9 speaker system.
I can however see where the confusion came from: The pricing structure is so silly that the dealers were bound to confuse things. Although in German, for anybody interested, the Swiss pricelist can be found here:
    http://de.toyota.ch/Images/pl_prius_1-05_d_tcm376-261733.pdf

It basically says that IPA can be bought only together with the full option Premium 2 package (Similar to US Pkg. 8 - It's the highest available package here including Bluetooth/JBL/Nav/etc/SKS/fog lights/etc.) version. And then in small print at the bottom of the page it says that IPA is compatible only with the 6 speakers system. So basically you pay for the JBL system, but you do not get it if you order IPA.
I called them up to find out if they were out of their minds. Their reply was that the IPA option is cheaper than it should to compensate for the JBL system missing. So much for adding unnecessary confusion.

I am glad I decided to postpone my order for I would have been quite upset to find out when the car had gotten here. So I guess now I need to decide: JBL or IPA?

    habel:
Henrik, are you happy you chose IPA? Would you buy it again? Do you still use it?

    Thanks,
    Alex

P.S. Apparently it is not a matter of left or right hand drive. It is the CD changer that takes up the space needed for the IPA control module (as if they couldn't have fitted a blackbox in some other place). So it's either or.
