Is it customary for a dealer to add leather seats. I never really thought that was an option. But I just got off the phone with a sales guy and he said that they do it all the time. He recommended I get the V3 instead of the V5 because there were more of them and since I didn't care too much about the other additions except the softex leather seats. He said that they could install just the leather seats for me. I've had bad experiences trying to re-upholster my cars before through an independent business and vowed never to do it again. If this is true, do the dealers do a good job of re-upholstering as well? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

The port can do it so dealers can do it too, though most probably have the work done elsewhere (or it's done right at the port before they even get the car.).

As for if the job is good, some love their aftermarket leather, others I have seen post says theirs sagged a bit. Me? If I want leather/softex I get it factory, not aftermarket.

Most dealers have an installer that they use, I've never seen a port installed leather option. Maybe the Gulf States region does it on theirs? They have their own special world down there.

I've used the same local installer for the 12 yrs I've been selling Toyotas. He does a fantastic job, 10 yr. warranty, my customers are happy, I'm happy. Other sales people have used other installers, with poor results, so they didn't use them again. We usually have leather added to a car on the lot so people can see what they're getting. If your dealer doesn't have a car to show you, perhaps ask if one of their customers is ok showing you their car.

The only other suggestion is if you're planning on moving, consider using Classic SoftTrim. They're a national retailer, so if something goes wrong you have national warranty coverage.
