What is the best way to remove the EV mod? Has anyone done this?

    Thanks

Which version of the EV mod do you have?

Is it the Coastal Tech one or the other one(can't remember the name)?

Let's see, does it attach to the cruise control or does it mount in the dashboard next to the rheostat?

I imagine you'd do this in the reverse order that you installed it.

If it's the one from Coastal Tech, I imagine all you have to do is go in and carefully cut the wires coming out of the device you installed.

Why do you want to pull it?

The hardest part will be getting the pin out intact. Once the white bar on the plug is elevated it's probably best to use a combination of gentle traction on the wire and to use a thin wire to push it out from the 'bottom'.

The taps, if you used those, unclip pretty easily....just look at them, there's a little tab that has to be elevated and they come right off.

I agree... to have it is no harm.. and possibly raises the value to a buyer that knows what it is... I bet someone will trade cars with you!!! :D

If your concerned about someone fiddling with it in error, I bet you could put a switch under the dash hidden that kills the + wire.... maybe someone who understands it better could suggest which is the majic wire if you desire to do such a thing.

Why do you want to remove it? It does no harm to the car. If you don't like it, just don't use it. The car itself prevents the EV from engaging any time the conditions for safe use would be exceeded.

Other than that, I agree with Galaxee: follow the installation instructions in reverse. And follow Evan's suggestion for removing the pin.

If you drilled a hole in the dash to install a button, you may have to visit the parts department and replace that segment of the dash.

If you used the Coastal Tech EV switch and want to transfer it to a different Prius, it might be a bit more tricky. I'd leave it where it is and buy a new one for the new car.

I agree.. don't toss a cool feature.. even if you don't want to use it!

You may change your mind in time and really be glad you kept it.. once you learn more and see its advantages!

We've had alot of responses here, but "Blue-Adept" has never responded to say why he wants to know?
Maybe he doesn't have the mod yet and was wondering how hard it would be to reverse it?...
I see he has 89 posts, so I"m not sure what the story is.

Why do you guys keep replying to an old thread where the writer seems to have been satisfied on day 1?

    Friends,
I have heard that, like the GPS lockout override (cannot access while in motion) there is a keystroke pattern that delays ICE startup (currently 7 seconds, I believe).
