I bought a Prius last Wed. Its hands down the best car I ever had. Before test driving I always thought of it as being too small. My view changed, during the test drive I put the kids' (two) booster seats in the back, and there was plenty of leg room for them. I was able to get my seat in a comfortable position. Only downside I have noticed so far is the beeping when the car is in reverse. I tried the steps I saw here in the forum, but they didn't work. I called two local dealers and they both said its a $50 charge to change that option. Other than that I love this car!!!

Awesome to all that. I just got used to the back up beeps.

A lot of people don't realize that the Prius is a mid-sized car, as of Gen III. That is why Ford had to stop advertising the Fusion hybrid as the most fuel efficient mid-size.

Have you had to put any gas in it yet? :D

Welcome aboard! If you push the dealers hard enough and show them the owner's manual where it describes the changes that can be made, they will likely do it for free. If not, there is likely a Priuschatter near you with a ScanGauge that can shut it off for you. I would do it for you if you were up here. :)

Welcome and congrats on your new purchase. Nice color choice by the way ;)

I ditto pressing the dealer to make the reverse beep change during your first service visit. My dealer changed mine with no problem.

Nope I'm still on the first tank from the dealer, and I have a 45 minute commute to work. Did I mention I love this car.

Directions only work for Gen II unless you have a Scangauge.

You may be able to get dealer to switch the beeping to one beep for free the next time you bring it in for service by mentioning (and smiling and being kind) the day you bring it in.
By only calling they want to charge you just for taking up bay space. KWIM?

Good news I talked to my salesman this afternoon. He said he talked to the maintenance department and they will make the change to the reverse beeping when I take my car in next week for the paint coating, for FREE!!!

Sure he did... well I am glad they are going to do it. It was the first thing I had done... couldn't stand that beeping. They gave me the run-around too (SOP).

While they are changing the back-up beep, have them change the passenger side seatbelt beep as well. It can be changed to a single "beep" instead of the incessant "beep, beep, beep . . ."

Thanks for the idea. Normally I'm in the car by myself and never noticed that. I will add that to the list.

Yes, my building allows front parking for Hybrids. I'm in a 9 story bldg on the first floor and my Prius is literally parked 15 ft from my office window.
