    Hey guys,

I hope someone can chime in here and help me out. I bought the Euro version of Mud guards for my 2011 Prius. Does anyone know if I have to remove the rear tires in order to install these?

I got some mixed feedback and the instructions don't indicate that I need to, but I wondered if someone could tell me from first hand experience.

    Thanks!

I have done it both ways. With the back tire on, I had to use an S looking phillips screw driver that has a 90 degree angle.

Removing the tire allows for a regular lenght screwdriver to get in there straight on and not let the screw go in on an angle or strip the head trying to put it in.

IMO opinion, I would remove the tire for a easy access and less chance of messing up.

I started out trying to install my mud guards without removing the rear tire but quickly decided it would be much easier to remove the rear tire.

As rrg stated, it is easy to strip the screw head while trying to install with tires on.

I have a hydraulic jack so it was easy to lift the rear end and remove one tire at a time.

Can you please post a picture or two when you are done. I bought them some time ago and still have not decided whether I want to put them on or not. Thanks

I've installed mud flaps on many cars over the years including my Prius & it's always easier to remove the rear wheels before installing the rear mud flaps. The time it takes to remove the rear wheels is saved when installing the mud flaps. :D
