    Rear passengers side curtain doesn't seem to be all that effective.....

    I'm wondering why it got the top safety pick. The side impact effectiveness seems really troubling.

    I agree the side passenger airbag is very disconcerting. I suspect that the Prius v will not receive a good rating from NHSTA which has implemented the new 5 star rating with higher standards for safety than IIHS. I noticed that IIHS has recommended other cars that performed poorly in NHSTA's tests.

    Two things seem to help:
    1. sit in a more upright position
    2. move back seat forward
