A friend is thinking of getting a Prius but having heated seats is a requirement. Is this something a 3rd party could do?

I realize that the person won't likely want to have leather seats installed just to have a seat warmer, but I note that leatherseats.com has a seat warmer option with their leather kits. So it is feasible to do it. They also have a seat warmer with massage option.

You could also get a heated pad that sits on top of the seats, held on with electric straps. There's a power outlet inside the center console, so you don't have to string wire all around. I haven't used these, so I don't know how well they work, or how they look.

If you're looking for leather anyway, that would probably be the better way to go.

    Howdy,

You can get a simple solution at JC Witney that include heat and some sort of massage... It could easily removed in summer.

    Link

Of course, I find that about half of the stuff I get from JCW is pretty flimsy...

    Have some fun!

Apparently, there is a Toyota heated seat accessory kit available in Europe (or at least Germany where I found this accessory brochure http://www.toyota.de/media/dede/pdf/Prius_...reise_03_04.pdf )

    Driver only: DENG8-73005-00 168Euro
    or
    Driver and passenger: DENG8-73005-02 306Euro

There are a lot of other accessories including parking assist (audible, not the camera): 69900-00003-8S 262Euro

I haven't been able to find this accessory brochure on the UK site but if anyone has one in English, please post

Erik, and all. Can we determine if the seats with the heater in them are different in any other way (like comfort!) compared to the US seats??

In Fargo it gets down to 40 below zero F. Very occasionally colder. I have never felt the need for heated seats. The cloth seats do not conduct heat out of your bum, so long johns do the job just fine. (And a jacket for the seat-back.)

What I want is a heated steering wheel!!!

    ErikS--

I'm curious about what the heated seat switch looks like and where it is located.
    Can you post a photo?
    thanks
