    Hello,

My 2011 Prius does not have an MFD since mine is the standard model. I tried to find a way to monitor the 12V battery by searching the forum but could not find a way to enter maintenance mode without the MFD.

Could you please help with a detailed stepped explanation on how to put my Prius on maintenance mode?

    Much appreciated.

Welcome to PC. By MFD, do you mean the area for the NAV on the sky bridge? I always thought all Prii came with the MFD (or MID) just to the right of the speedo. Is yours missing that?

If you are referring to the NAV screen display area and you got the standard radio package, the display for the 12 volt battery health is not possible without a scangauge. Those owners who have a NAV, can get into maintenance mode.

I thought the MFD was the panel on the main console, where the GPS would be. Sorry about that. Every post I read kept saying to press buttons on the MFD so I supposed it was the touch lcd panel in the central console (between driver and passenger seats), which I don't have. I am not aware that there are buttons on my MFD (to the right of where the speed and information gauges are)...???

Thanks for the information. It's a little disappointing it can't be done without add-ons.

    Thanks again.

You're welcome :). I too have pondered this since I first got my Prius almost 2 years ago. Yes, you do need the NAV package to enter maintenance mode without a scangauge. The MFD (or some call it the MID) is just to the right of the speedo and the only options are to press the disp button on the steering wheel and toggle thru the various choices. Follow my design concept for a more advanced MFD (which would be in all packages) at the bottom of my signature.

Wow! You put a lot of time into this. Hope someone is listening.

BTW: liked the 12V monitor bar already!

Thanks! As far as who is listening...I hope it's Toyota research and development.

The only way I have found is to press the 'disp' and up/down buttons on the steering wheel; to toggle thru the various choices.

On the 'base model' the only display modes you can get to are those accessible using the 'disp' and up/down buttons on the steering wheel.
