I thought the roof antenna was supposed to be shorter on the 06's. Is it? How does yours look compared to an 05?

I don't think it was supposed to be shorter, it just was shorter in the pics of that green one in the press photos since it wasn't all 'assembled' like other parts of the car.. eg: bottom rear valances, emblems on the sides, etc.

All this talk about leather! Am I the only one who feels it is cold in the winter and hot/sticky in the summer?! Maybe I'd go for it with heated seats. I have a Saturn now with leather and always had to sit on beach towels, lambskin or other fitted covers.

Is there any other compelling reason to switch to #8 other than 'new look???'

    I've ordered my 1st Prius, 2006, new Red, Gray #7. ETA 01/01/2006

    Leather is easier to clean.

My baby likes to lick the leather better than the fabric. :)

Your own opinion is all that will convince you.. I"m convinced different folks have different taste, preferences, and metabolisms that warm up to the leather differently...

But as I'm typing this, I'm sitting on my leather couch with my wireless laptop and I like the leather I'm sitting on!.
I think the reason it sometimes feels cold at first to touch, is that it tends to adapt to and match the temperature of its surroundings. So yes it can be cold to touch if the air around it is cold, but within seconds it quickly matches your skin temperature and actually becomes a nice insulator that maintains that temp as long as your touching it!

Just my opinion.... not worth much if your is different.

So, who has info on what will it take to upgrade a 05 to get the 06 hi-res MFD (the way it should've been with the Gen2s), hi-res Nav, rear-cam, and stereo improvements (I see ASL!!) of mp3 and such?

Maybe a dealership can order-and-install? Has to be cheaper than the loss of selling the 2004/05 for an O6 for just those features.

I guess what you will need to investigate is whether it is a software thing or a hardware thing.
I don't know, but I'm guessing hardware since the actually screen demensions are different?

Updating a video card per se may not be enough either if the screen is a higher pixel display or type.

What you "may" be talking about is replacing your NAV with newer one?
Since the screen is of different demensions... I'm guessing they pulled the technology of the lexus into the prius. You may need a whole replacement?

I'm sure there are many out here that know the real scoop.

Kinged: Major thanks to you for all the Q&A and photos. It was a lot of time on your part, and your generosity is greatly appreciated.

    ALL MY POINTS TO YOU!

(Oh, wait, we can't do that anymore... :( )

    Observations:
    1. Love the AUX-IN plug in the armrest -- nice bit of design work!
    2. I find the changes to the MFD screen for climate control much more intuitive.
    3. Is the snowflake symbol indicator (lights up in temperatures close to freezing or below) gone from the '06? (People in Winnepeg will appreciate that. :) ) Not that you'll probably ever see it, Kinged.
    Thanks again!

you may want to try this as a new thread. i'm betting it would be very expensive on an already-assembled vehicle, if it can be done at all. you have pieces in the dash, in the center console, on the rear of the car... with that much taken apart it'd probably rattle like crazy when you were done.

kinged, Is Yours a Factory Leather Package 8?

Your gray leather seems much lighter than the Toyota website interior color chart for "dark" gray leather. Is your leather color actually darker that your pictures, or is the Toyota website wrong again? Is it possible you have a 2006 Package 7 with port installed leather? Is your leather possibly bisque, not gray?

    Thanks,

The grey is much lighter than the web portrays it and the bisque is darker, but more of a light almond.

Thats why its scary to make a decision of color based on the web.
