Hey guys. Question for you all. My husband has a 2004 Prius and wants to be able to listen to his iPhone music and Spotify over the stereo. He doesn't have a built in cable to hook it up. I was looking at purchasing him this for Christmas and wondering if it was

    1) Compatible with the car (does the 2004 Prius have that AM/Sat button needed?)

    2) Easy to install

    3) Good quality.

Here is the product I was looking at: Toyota Prius 07-09 iPod iPhone Nano Touch Car Audio Kit Adapter (PXAMG) (PGHTY1)
    SKU: PXAMG_PGHTY1_Toyota_Prius_07-09

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks so much!

In Lexus vehicles equipped with factory satellite, the satellite receiver will have to be disconnected at the satellite tuner location in order for the PXAMG to work correctly
Radios with a diversity antenna will need to make a small modification to the OEM radios main power harness in order for the HD tuner to work correctly. I actually don't think that unit will work in a 2004 Prius. I don't think the 2004 had the SAT input option. If the radio has an AM/SAT button on the front, then likely it will work. To listen to audio stream services like Spotify he will need to use the Aux input cable that the unit includes.

If it does not work (and even if it does) I would recommend this unit:

MediaBridge - iPod, USB, Bluetooth, SIRIUS and AUX integration kit for Toyota, Lexus and Scion DICE Electronics LLC - DRIVE | LIVE | ACCESSORIZE

as it will allow for the "phone" features to also be integrated so he can do hands free calling with the iPhone as well.

I don't have one of their products, but many members here do and speak well of them

The product you mention works, but i seen a few reviews that if itunes updates the software causes comunication problems, so i am with jpadc i also recomend the dice electronics interface, if there is a SAT button it will display all the ipod text on the toyota prius screen, but if you don't have that button on the prius radio the interface configuration can be change to be use as a external cd changer mode or MP3 mode

Not sure if this would work for the 2004 Prius or not but I have the 07 Prius with the MFD that you can control the radio from. I have been searching for an iPhone interface that allows me to control my iPhone from the MFD. What I had found up until now are the ones that use the CD Changer input to emulate a CD Changer using your iPod. What I didnt like about them is they used the generic CD Changer interface on the MFD and you have to create playlists which act like the different CDs of a changer and you can't search for individual songs nor will they display the song info that I wanted. Vias electronics has come out with an updated device called the Medialinq Plus which connects to the CD Changer mode but it replaces the CD changer interface on the MFD with its own overlay. You can search your music on your iPod by artist, album, song, genre ect. using buttons on the touchscreen of the MFD. It will display the song, artist and album of the current song playing as well as the album art, plus it also allows iPod video in as well (everything the aftermarket radios do and also the newer Prius' but from what I've seen it is way better than Toyota's iPod integration solution) . This is all due to the new iOS update that allows the Medialinq Plus to display the info from the iPod onto the MFD. The only downside is the price, $500. I've seen it as low as $449 at some online stores which is still cheaper than buying an aftermarket touchscreen style radio with the same capabilities plus it allows you to keep the stock look which is what I prefer. I hope this helps.
