What do you like about the Prius? What are the small things that Toyota has done on the 3rd Gen that you appreciate?

    1. Better illumination such as footwell lighting, window switches and steering wheel (Toyota isn't known for a lot of back lighting)
    2. Touch Tracer. They work well in the winter when you have heavy gloves on and you can't tell the buttons by feel
    3. Felt-lined A and B pillars. They add a touch of class not found in this price range
    4. Curved front seatbacks. Thanks for the extra rear kneeroom!
    5. Carpeted cargo area. No hard plastics for things to bang against or scratch. (e.g. RAV4 or Matrix or Prius v)
    6. Eco plastics. Gives us a few more things to boast about the Prius' eco credentials
    7. Tech toys. Thanks for keeping the Prius ahead of the curve in its segment!
    8. Attention to detail in the exterior design. Thanks for the countless hours spent in the wind tunnel to fine-tune the body for aerodynamics vs. style & design.

What are you favourite things about the 3G Prius?

The aerodynamics of this vehicle... how every crease and shape of the sheet metal means something.

At the risk of sounding cliche, I truly enjoy how driving the Prius has made me a less stressful person. Can not believe how many years I would go into battle with other road warriors trying to milk 3 minutes off my drive time. Always looking over my shoulder for cops because I was trying to 'just' speed enough where I wouldn't get caught. Yes, I was one of those people that would speed up to pass someone only to slam on brakes at stoplight. I've changed my driving style and now arrive to destinations relaxed and stress free.

For what I use it for I love it's superior technology, features and design compared to same priced new vehicles. It seemed silly and illogical to buy anything more, or anything less.

At the risk of sounding cliche, I agree with everything everyone has said so far.

Except mine's an '04 and I don't have Touch Tracer and the other GenIII things.
Seriously, seven years in and I still look over my shoulder for one more look as I walk away. I still look out the window and marvel at the shape, aerodynamics and engineering. I still surprise people with the cargo capacity. People still ask me about it. I still average 55+ MPG. I still smile (and occasionally wave) when I see another one on the road. And I still hang around Priuschat to tell people what I love about this car.

The protective rubber ring on the outer edge of the tire to reduce "curbing" of the 17 inch wheel.

I like everything! But, specifically the size (not really a compact but still fits in my side of the garage), the package I got with the navigation/bluetooth/satellite, the smart key system, and the mileage (of course)!!

I like everything also. After two years I also still take one more look over my shoulder as I walk away :)

I like the technology and the ability to monitor all of the hybrid system parameters with ScanGauge, the mileage, the low emissions, NAV/SAT/Hands Free Phone, the mpg displays, SKS, size (medium size but large carrying capacity), the comfort and handling for a car this size and price, and the interior quietness with the engine off.

This car has also made me a better and less stressful driver.

One thing i don't like is the position of the Four-Way flasher button. I've already put the flashers on by accident with the side of my hand when going for the "P" button. Other then that most everything is good

Thanks for asking. Things are going very well this 2nd time around :)

    of course, first off...

    1) my seat(ing), using all controls - if just flat out 'works'! At 6'2", it's cozy of course (I woulnd't want to be 6'5" in there, personally), but it is all quite comfortable and supportive. I'm not even putting a pad on the door armrest like I mentioned many times. It is all better than expected!

    2) HSI gage - helping me drive more efficiently. I've got over the initial thrill with the 1 minute MPG bar graph, because that's after the fact, but the realtime feedback of HSI is beneficial

    3) This car EVs nicely for a hybrid. Was catching 27 MPH EV almost a mile into the home tract

    4) Very quiet engine and nice sounding too.

    5) Bluetooth and voice activated system works very well!

    6) Nearly flat floor behind front seats.

    7) Did you notice even the tonneau cover is designed perfectly to hide everything even if peer in through the lower hatch glass?

    8) climate control system

    9) light that shines onto the shifter at night.

    10) 15" wheels and plastic wheelcovers, they're pimp :D

    -----------------------

Bottom line - Best car I have ever owned. definitely no thoughts to 'keep the miles down' to sell this car in a couple years. No. This one's a keeper :)

Two years in and I still look forward to my morning drive to work. Nothing material has held my attention that long (maybe my MacBook Air as well).

I like the way the back seats fold down and it's flat with the trunk deck. Almost no gaps between the seatbacks. I put a thin utility carpet across the entire bed and it is literally like driving a small truck. I throw everything back there and I don't worry about stuff falling between the cracks.

Free SAT so far. XM has never called and I've never seen a billing on my credit card statement. Shhhhhh!

    Great responses, guys! (and gals!)

Indeed, even driving the 2005, I admire how easy it is to drive it, how good the visibility is (it seems you sit higher up on the Gen 2 than in the Gen 3, or the dashboard is lower in relation to the driver's seat in the Gen 2).

I love the auto up/down windows! The foot area lights are really nice too. I think my absolute favorite thing at the moment is the steering. It's so smooth and easy.

I find the ECO and PWR modes very useful to me due to a permanent right leg injury. This allows me to have better, smoother control of the accelerator. Since most all new cars and trucks now have "fly by wire" accelerators, I believe this would be a useful inexpensive feature on all of them. For this and other reasons, I believe the Prius would be very useful to returning wounded veterans and for that matter everyone with leg injuries.
