Ok, I just figured out how to customize the Startup Image..the instructions are on page 48 of Nav System Owner's Manual. I have the Advanced Tech Package.

The Image has to be a JPG or JPEG image up to 10MB. On your home PC, you create TWO files on a USB thumb drive, one called "StartupImage" and "DisplayOffImage" (Both Case sensitive). You put the files (images) that you want, inside the "StartupImage" folder. You then go to your Prius and plug into the USB port. You then go into Setup -> General -> Customize Startup Image. Then just follow the onscreen instructions and your done!

When the car starts, you still see the Toyota logo for a second, then your custom image for another second, then the system is booted.

I now can enjoy my Kids picture before every trip!

Must be the advanced package. On the first Setup -> General screen I see two blank bars near the bottom - one of those must be it.
    :(

In the "General" screen scroll to the second screen under "Keyboard Layout" is the "Customize Startup Image" option.. and Yes, I do have the Tech Package.

Bummer, I can't get this to work. I've followed the instructions exactly as in the original post and tried many other variations with different formats (jpg, png, pdf, gif).

I have a Plug-in Prius (Advanced). Maybe there's a bug in the PIP Nav software?

Any other PIP owners get this to work?

Is this just for the V5 Advanced Tech package or is this available on the V 3 also? Anyone?

Sounds like it is exclusive to the HDD navigation which is only available on the v Five ATP.

BTW, this doesn't seem to be documented, but for the 7" fancy schmancy ATP display, the resolution is 800x480.

Any one else do this? I'm trying to transfer some pics, have followed all instructions here and in the manual, yet keep getting an "No images found...consult manual for accepted file types" error. What gives?

I think the flash drive has to be formatted Fat32, not NTFS. That's how I got mine to work.

Thanks for this tip, Selborne, it is not in the manual. I had my USB drive formatted as NTFS, and kept getting a "No images found...consult manual for accepted file types" error. Reformatted to Fat32, works like a charm...

After formatting the drive to FAT32, I still could not upload the images. I then reduced the two Jpegs to 800 x480 which finally ended up working. Even though the original files were under the limit specified in the manual, I can only assume the system has trouble handling large files or images with higher resolution than 800 wide.

You need to get a close up picture of Linda Blair in The Exorcist, sneek that in. Casually mention that you've heard strange noises in the garage. When your partner notices it? Pretend you don't see it.

    Good Times!
