What high tech features you DON'T use?

    You're overthinking this. The Prius doesn't come standard with the advanced technology package and it isn't exactly a cheap option. Most people who get ATP do so because they actually want to use it and would take the time to figure out how to operate the various features correctly.

    DRCC is not really that different from normal cruise control, which has been around for years. In fact, just having the regular cruise control could in theory increase complacency because if you don't pay attention, you could hit the car in front of you because it's going too slow for your set speed. So far, we haven't heard anyone admitting this.

    I fully agree. There needs to be a method to ensure that owners have read their manuals especially on vehicles with advanced technologies. Someone coming from a car built in the mid 90s will have a lot to learn than someone who has been buying new cars every few years and have been keeping up with technology.

    DRCC (at least our version) won't stop you from hitting the car in front of you. You will hit it if you ignore all the beeps and warning messages.

    DRCC and LKA have been around for a while. DRCC has been around for 10 years. LKA is newer (5-6 years I believe).


    Have you read the article on what Audi is thinking of introducing in the next few years? It takes MB's Distronic Plus and Toyota's DRCC (the more advanced one from Lexus) to the next level. Those two systems (Distronic Plus and DRCC) work down to 0km/h and is useful in stop-and-go traffic. You just have to hit the RESUME button (or tap the accelerator) when traffic ahead moves and the car will then accelerate and follow the car in front until the next stop. Audi's system will take care of all of that for you up to 37mph. While definitely a convenience item, it also encourages complacency and people will become less aware of their surroundings.

    Np! I actually forgot to mention PCS but that's more of a safety item than a "toy".

    Also, not really a techie item but the Tech package on the 2010 Prius includes felt-lined A and B pillars (all other models have plastic pillars). It's a nice touch that elevates the interior ambiance imo.

    Hi everyone. Thanks for your answers. I did buy the 2010 Prius, with full AT package, but in Canada this does not come with Lane Keeping Assist. So far, I love as follows in order: 1. Bluetooth pairing with iPhone for both music and talking, 2. Touch screen control of nearly everything, 3. Rear view camera in reverse, 4. Radar cruise control (totally mind boggling), 5. Nav system (when you finally get it to understand what you say).
