OK, I was showing a friend my new 2008. While looking at the various display screens we pressed the "Display Off" button and it worked great. NOW: how do I turned it back on? I spent a good half hour going through different screens and trying different buttons. Still no energy display. I swear I read every page in the owner's manual regarding the display screen. Still no joy. I am starting to feel very stupid. Help Please, Bob
Thanks, but it is a 2008 model. Page 239 in the 2008 manual is, "Using the CD Player...". There is no section 2-7, 2-5 is as high as it goes. Section 3-1 is titled, "Using the touch screen". and on page 193 it tell how to turn the screen off. (We already know how to do that....<sigh>). That is where I expected to also see how to turn it back on. I'm heading home today and may swing by the dealer tomorrow. The parting words from the salesman were, "If you have any problems or questions be sure to let us know." Guess I'll see if they they really meant it. Bob
Sorry, but I replied by reading the e-mail and not your full reply in the forum. I missed the picture link. However, I have pushed several of the bezel switches and the appropriate display comes up, audio, climate, etc. But the main screen that shows energy use (motors, ICE, wheels) i.e. power flow remains blank. The 2008 manual (page 193) simply says: "If [Display Off] is touched, the screen display is turned off, and guidance is by voice only." That is where the page ends. Thanks again, Bob
I'm not sure why it would function differently on a 2008 vs. a 2007, but since I don't have an 08, I guess its possible. I'm sure you tried already, but I would try the Info button on the steering wheel.
Same thing happened to me. Kept looking in vein for the "Display On" Button. Glad I'm not the only one.
I had that problem too, but when I pushed info button on the steering wheel everything went back to normal.
morpheusx hit the nail on the head.... Today I decided to push every button I could find on the display and see what happens. Under [INFO] I hit "Trip Info" and I had it back. That said, it doesn't seem to me to be very intuitive. I "assumed" that Trip Info had something to do with the odometer trip things. Never would have pared that up with Display Off. I never did find anything in the manual that related Display Off with Trip Info. Perhaps change the text on Trip Info to Display On since that is all it does. Na', too easy. Maybe a note in the manual that explains the Display Off switch. Thanks to all, Bob
One more note. I just went out and looked. No INFO button on the steering wheel. Is that related to the Navigation System? The only one is by the display. Bob
It may be...in the picture you'll see the INFO button right below the MAP button on the top right side of the wheel.
Tks for the picture. The top right part of my wheel is blank. I opted for a portable navigation system. Take it with me, ya' know. Bob
Thank you all. I joined Priuschat.com just for this problem. Now that I am a member I see all of the other benefits. The Internet is a wonderful think. Thank you Al Gore!!!
same problem here. Press info button turned on the display with the energy screen displayed. But now when viewing audio or climate screens, i must press info to get the energy display. Whereas before it would default to energy screen after thirty seconds of no climate or audio inputs.
Nope. You don't have the same problem. Somehow a different setting got changed on your MFD. Here's how to fix it: Press "Info" on the bezel Press the "Screen Settings" softkey Press the "On" softkey for "Auto Transition from Audio/Air Conditioning to Navigation, etc" if you want the system to go back to the Info/FE screens after you have been in another screen for a while (this is the car's default setting). Press the "Off" softkey if you want the system to stay in the current Audio, Air, Nav, etc. screen until you force it to go back to the Info/FE screens. That should fix it. Also, if you have the "Info" button on your steering wheel, it is easy enough to hit this whenever you want to go back to the FE screens. Hope this helps.
I Know that it has been a long time since you have written this. But, I just experienced the same thing. My mileage was dropping so much because of cooler temps, that I got disgusted and turned it off. Then I couldn't get it back on. Thanks for having gone through this...so I had some answers when I needed them.
I have a 2009 and the Screen Off got touched and I don't see a Screen On location. Is there one? Thanks JD
