I owned a 1996 Civic hatchback (3 door) that I bought new for about $11,000 loaded.

Honda no longer makes the Civic hatchback, unless you get the Si model, which costs quite a bit more.

Why did Honda cut one of their more popular models? Likely, they wanted more margin, like Ridgeline and Pilot. But, they used to have much more volume.

Maybe they will smarten up and bring back the 3 door hatchback as an entry level car, which will bring with it buyer loyalty, which leads to higher sales of Accords and Pilots later.

Subtle changes like this don't just happen with Japanese manufacturers. My guess is that Honda's trying to tamp down the well-deserved Rice Rocket phenom-
enon with an eye to the Boomer market.

I don't see any rear door handles.. that must be a two seater.... this would be a good solution for those who were wanting a sportier version without the rear seats etc and a bit more power without loosing mpg in a hybrid version!

Using my imagination, it looks like that would also look sharp in a convertible model.

haha.. Look carefully dear windstrings. The rear door handles are black and are integrated into the door frame. This is a 5-seater, 5-dr hatchback.

Probably under the "H" between the rear licence plate lights.

    Windstrings:
Yeah, Alfa Romeo has done that with their cars. The Nissan Pathfinders have rear door handles that are integrated into the frame.
