Distinguishing video and AVC-LAN w/o a scope

    Just finished soldering my new header onto the nav plugs in my Prius (pulled the seat out and just cut into the harness) but I fear I may have mixed up the TX+ of AVC and the white RGB wire (both are white). What should I measure to check which is which? It's easy enough to change them but I want to know what's what - would measuring resistance (a) not kill anything if it's the AVC-LAN and (B) give me 75 ohms against the ground if it's the video line?

    I'll repeat myself once again- pay the $10, download the schematics and wiring diagram. All the information you've inquired about is in this document: colors, pinouts, connector locations and connector diagrams..

    In any case, even if you don't know the exact pinout, it doesn't matter.. Toyota was smart and when picking pin placements, they chose to group the data and video to opposite ends of the connetor, so if you know what color the TX- wire is, then the TX+ is the one right under/over it. The wire going to the other side of the connector is the video signal.. In other words, don't bother measuring resistance, to ground, instead, measure between your tap and the connector: the wire with continuity closest to the TX- will be TX+.

    The RGBS/VR are grouped together coming out of a shielded cable.
    R=black
    G=White
    B=Red
    Sync=Green
    Video Return=yellow

    Boy are their color choices wierd.

    TX+ is white and TX- is pink.

    Hi C4; I'm in Canada and I wish I could buy & download such schematics, but unfortunately that feature's only available to US addresses. I'm looking for the pinouts for the AUX audio connector on the standard '05 radio, as well as info on the cruise control lever harness and accelerator pedal position sensor harness. If you have those and are willing to share I'll greatly appreciate. By the way, I'm in touch with Norm and have put in place with him a NDA like you have. I'm among those who got him to modify his CAN-VIEW to broadcast the decoded CAN messages - I wish to hook up a MacMini to my Prius and try to develop a fuel-optimized cruise control.

    Best regards,
    Gilles

    I can't remember exactly how I did it, but I'm in Canada as well, and was able to register on TIS and download my manuals..

    I think I may have entered my Canadian house address, but used the closest US state/zip code or perhaps even left it blank, but it accepted my registration and my credit card information.. I ordered the one-day service, and I think I actually got nearly 48 hours of use out of the account (because the account expires at 11:59 of the day after you register, so if you register early in the morning, you get nearly 2 days use), which was plenty of time to download absolutely everything there was on my model year, which unfortunately is a 2001, so I don't have anything on the HSD Prius, however I have seen excerpts of them, and they are just as detailed as the 2001 schematics, so I don't doubt that pretty much all the information you're looking for is available..
