Well, I went into the Toyota dealership today as I had some time. My 3rd Gen was filled to the max with work stuff. The salesman took a look at my Prius and told me it was time for a V. Short story, an hour later I was driving off the lot in the new V.

I test drove the V and loved it. I'll miss the 3G, but... I still have one in the garage, my wife's. My girls love the reclining seats in the back. Pretty much a perfect size for me with the job that I have.

If you don't mind, (if you do no big deal), we tossed around the same thing in my house, but hate the thought of loosing thousands on a 2011 Prius II that only has 8,000 miles and is 8 months old. So the question is, how much did you lose moving up to the V.

    Oh, almost forgot CONGRATES

Also, I wonder if we will hate to loose 8MPG.

    Thanks

    Thanks

The only way we are getting the "V" is if my wife wants to trade her '06 HiHy in for it. I did test drive one a few weeks ago. I especially like the panoramic roof option.

Well, they gave me 19,500 for the 2011 III. I paid 20500 for it. The price on the V was 28,500. I paid 26,500.

The !!! had 10,000 miles on it. I did have seat covers and floor mats and center console cover. I'm sure that helped with the value of the three. They also told me they are seeing high demand for the 3rd gens and the V's. They sold 8 prius's yesterday. Gas prices are up.... the Prius is a hot seller.

Not only do the rear seats recline, they also slide back and forth like the front seats. Amazingly tight build. Really well thought out.

WOW....great for you, my problem is that I HAD to buy at the height of the demand last summer and had to pay sticker. So I would be looking at a $5,500 loss on my 2011 Prius II (8,000 miles) trade in.

Anyway great for you and for what it is worth, I am jealous of your purchase. At the dealership i LOVED, the leg room in the backseat and everything else about that car, I also think it is a very well designed car for it's market.

    Thanks for info share....ENJOY

Congrats on your new V. I didn't know about the adjutability of the rear seats - pretty cool. And I'm jealous of the great deal you got on your g3, particularly your initial purchase - when did you buy, if I may ask?

I bought last day of October. They had 20 Prii on the lot with 20 more on the way, as the back log jam had finally opened on manufacturing. I also bought two at the same time.

I didn't think there was anyway that I would buy the V, as I thought they would give me nothing for the 3g. But, as luck would have it, nearing end of month. They are working on record Toyota Prius month, and they drooled over the fact of having a 2011 used 3gen on the lot. They still have Toyota incentives, but salesman said they end in February. Gas prices are going up, and demand for the Prius is skyrocketing.

I went back today to take some things to them from my trade, and there were three used 3g's sitting in a row including mine. The salesman said that the others were traded for the V as well.

Definitely seems like the best car for your needs. I can't imagine how they are going to squeeze any profit out of your prius 3. I surely wouldn't go for one or two thousand in savings over a new car.

I kind of wish I would have taken more time to study the market and gather more negotiating power. I was already having too much analysis paralysis over the car shopping process, so when I finally decided on the Prius I walked in a bought one. I didn't pay msrp, I paid $22,400 before my trade-in, but I'm sure I had more bargaining power than I took advantage of. They did try and corner me into another color but in the end I pulled a fast one on them and got them to agree to the same price on my color of choice by calling another dealer. In the end, I'm happy with my car and love it all the same. :)

Congrats! Now that gas prices are on the rise again, you are once again ahead of the game.
