Two weeks old now....added fog lights...lighted door sills, auto-dimming homelink mirror, side mouldings and removed the wheel covers...did all the work my self...very easy and saved about $750 by doing it myself....

v3...my first Prius, 4 days in and loving it. I discovered some pretty nice wheels under the cheap plastic covers, the center caps are now installed, 60 bucks at the local dealership.

First mod was the window tints...mobil service came to the house, 185 bucks.

I'm an Australian living in Fukuoka, Japan. Upgraded from a 660cc "yellow plate" eco car to a Prius last year. I've already managed to average 77mpg driving through the suburbs to work (speed limits are considerably lower here and drivers are calmer).

Had to dig way deep into the archives for this pic. Best one I can find - I drive the silver Echo on the left.

Its used, but new to me. Several unknowledgeable people including some prius owners that are unfamiliar about the generations of prius have asked me, "Where did you get your prius?" When I tell them it is a 2002, their response is "oh" then they walk away.

My 5 and 7yr girls want "her" to carry on the name from the previous car "Betsy" I call it "Blue"

    So to compromise,

I would like to introduce you to "Betsy Blue":cheer2:

Ooh, congrats! Would love to hear what kind of mileage you get. Did you purchase at Mossy? I guess the store fronts all look the same.

    Thank you for the welcome.

I picked it up on Saturday from Kearny Mesa Toyota (they were very helpful throughout the sales process) but so far I've only had time to drive it to Costco from the dealership and then home. It still has less than 100 miles on it.

It was not plugged in and charged prior to delivery, so my fuel economy is not indicative of what it will get. Also, I do not yet know how to display the fuel economy on either of the two displays. I saw a photo showing MPG for a trip in a posting on this website, but I don't yet know how to get mine to show that. It is not like the display on my previous Prius (a 2005). There is a lot more information available here, but finding it is not especially intuitive.

I have not recharged it yet because I have not had time to read about how to do that in the owner's manual. I want to make sure that I do everything properly and do not mess anything up.

There was more than one owner's manual supplied with the car, so I've got a lot of reading ahead of me.

I see from your email that you are in San Diego too. Are you a member of the local Prius club? I am.

I tried to see what some of the buttons do after I got the car, and I had some success with that, but operating my base plug-in models included navigation system puzzles me. Also, I wonder how it updates its maps and if the navigation feature is part of Entune - which would mean that I would have to pay a monthly fee to continue using it after the first three years, which are included in the purchase price.

I am very used to the Garmin interfaces (I have had several Garmins dating back to the late 1990s, as I recall), but this Prius nav system's interface seems to be nothing like any of those. So far my current Garmin GPS seems to be a lot more intuitive, at least for me, but because of where the nearest power outlet is (hidden deep under the 'flying' center console), using my Garmin will require routing its power cord all the way from down there, around the steering column and to the lower left corner of the windshield. On my other car (a Mustang) there is a power outlet near the top center of the dash. The Chevy Volt has a convenient outlet on the top of the dash.

Also, I wish that there was a flat surface somewhere on the center of the dash or near the console so that I can easily position my iPhone. I'll look into getting a secure vent mount for it.

I'm guessing your mpgs, etc. would still show on the mfd (multi-functional display) on the center of the dash. To scroll through images on the mfd simply press the button "Display" on your steering wheel. Each time you press it, it will move to another screen.

That's unfortunate about entune. I personally am not open to paying monthly fees for nav, satellite radio and the like.
I have an 8.9" tablet and am struggling to find a good mount a well. I like the idea and placement of a floor mount, but it seems it would be awfully wobbly and I want to make sure attaching and detaching the tab would be an easy operation as well.

Yes, I am in SD! And am interested in joining a local prius club. Please post or pm me the info. I was getting the impression the local clubs where no longer active.

Thanks, hope you have a great day no. 4 with your lovely new car!
