My 2010 IV has some kind of rattle/vibration in the upper glovebox. You can only hear it when taking off from a stop or ascellerating at low speed.

I think it may be the plastic piston that raises the lid, but who knows? I can take out the lower glove compartment without any trouble but the upper one has completely defeated my efforts.

Does anyone else have this problem, if so what is it, and how do you remove the upper glove box to you can see what it is?

    Thanks

That rattle may actually be on the lower glovebox. Noise resonates easily in the Prius IMO because of all of the hard materials. I used pieces of felt on the hinges and this solved the problem.

I stopped the rattling from my glovebox doors just yesterday. I put a 1/2" felt 'dot' just in front of, and then curled inside of, the holes on each side of the glovebox where the door latches snap in when you close it. Also put a couple 1/4" smaller dots on the face of the door contact area where the door pushes against the dash when closed.

Stopped almost all the tics and pops from there. The doors are nicely tight when closed now. Oh, and lined both gloveboxes with felt inside for the pens and other rattley stuff.

Now to work on the hinged section of the middle console, one of my last rattles is inside there when it's in the closed position. Already put rubber between the two consoles to stop that particular popping.
