I took my Prius that I bought in December to the dealer this past weekend to get the beep removed. I had to go to the dealer I bought it from, the one's around my area all asked "Did you buy it from us?" If I didn't they would have charged me a diagnosis fee or some crap.

Thanks for this, although I found the same off Amazon, which is being fulfilled by Amazon and shipped by my Amazon Prime account for free. I should have it in two days, which is sometimes one day.

It looks like on the 2012's this can be set to one beep via the nav system. I guess Toyota got the message.

I have a 2012 II and had it at the dealer today to have it disabled, no charge (Toyota Escondido).
On the II you have several setting now on the MFID but reverse beep is NOT one of them, might be different with Navi

It's not on the navigation on the 2012 Prius v.

Thank you! Your program works great on my 2010 Prius using the Elmscan5 Compact purchased for $29.95 on Amazon. Dealer wanted to charge me a "discounted" service price of $79.95 to change those same parameters. Can I get a hold of your source to modify it so that I can customize other parameters (e.g. door unlock behavior)?

Single click on Key FOB opens all doors and you do not have to be in Park to allow someone to exit from the backseat. The manual shows all the parameters that can be customized. I think starting on page 583.

I was able to get mine to work using PuTTy as described above, but it took some tinkering. JerryLoz's program would not connect unfortunately. Once I figured out to enter the port information into the "Serial" connection, it connected but took about a minute for the ">" to appear.

Worked almost like a charm. I will describe the difficulties and solutions I found while working on my new Prius v. I got my Prius Jan 30th so perhaps things have changed.

I used the following to connect

    COM3
    BAUD 115200

When I entered the AT SH 07C0, which I did need to do, it didn't work with an uppercase C. AT SH 07c0 worked perfectly, as did the rest of the commands.

I can now back the car up without getting irate and having trash truck images in my head :D Thanks everyone!

    Thank you ron57108

I easily disabled the beeps via hypertrm (I couldn't get putty to work?) via your instructions. Thanks again!

Are there any other tweaks that can be performed through this method?

Sure it's been covered somewhere in here, but I asked my dealership to take care of during my first check up. Wasn't a problem and there was no charge.

I only installed the necessary drivers for the USB cable to work, I actually don't think my laptop used the CD as it was a mini disk and I didn't even hear it spin.

    Here is "putty" - http://www.putty.org/

    Excellent!
I was really hoping my post would help others avoid spending so much time gathering the necessary info.

I've read a number of other threads and posts that talk about other settings. But, none of them really appealed to me. So, I didn't pursue them any further.

My wish list (that won't be solved by programming alone):
--Running lights (just not willing to invest the $s or time)
--A center console that doesn't creeeek like old wooden floors when it's cold
--A "tighter" thump when closing the doors
--A more manly horn (going to scavenge one off an old Chevy pickup)

Otherwise - I love the car.

    Make it a great day,
    Ron

Apparently some dealers do charge for this service. My dealer did not and I was in and out very quickly.
