I just got my car back on this rainy SoCal evening. The stock rims were powder coated a high gloss black. Debating if I should paint the center cap (feeling lazy about having to take the wheels off. The wheel place put them on before I could tell them to keep the caps off). I was considering painting part of the background of the Toyota symbol blue. Let me know what you think. I will try to post better pics later. Yes, I'm under 40 y/o and still like cars with dark colored rims...Love the look and its easier to take care of.

Looks great TB, I'd do the center caps for sure...the silver doesn't really match anything.

Did you have them done at Andrews in Canoga Park ?

They look Great!. Can you tell me how much you paid? I would do the center caps for sure. If you have a steady hand consider doing only the background glossy black to match your rims. Blue might look good also though.

Thanks! I had them done at Bradford Powder Coating in Chula Vista. It's pretty close to to the Mexico border ;)

Wheels look great! More pics please! Preferably outside.

Question: Did you put the car on blocks while you had the wheels powdercoated? How did you handle that?

Thanks. And, yes I would vote to get the center caps black.

Thanks! I will take more pics. Just got the car back this evening from being tinted. I went pretty dark LOL. I was able to take one quick pic before the sunset.

I timed it that it was all done in one day. I had the rim place take the tires off and then brought the rims back and forth from Bradford Powder Coating. The car sat on their lift for the whole day.

I will work on painting the center caps black ;) for now it matches the silver/chrome lug nuts.( If I could do it over again I would recommend having the lug nuts powder coated and insist on not letting them place the center caps back on).

Consider spray painting your lugs yourself..I've done it in the past..Just poke the lugs in some Styrofoam to hold in place and paint..Works great, lasts a long time..

Your v is looking sharp..I have to start saving...:)

Painted the caps today and I agree with everyone that it looks better. Sorry, the rims are dirty (Showers expected tomorrow).

FWIW, it is also possible to match the body color with powder coat, but
the process is more involved. Here are the rims I had coated to match
    my Barcelona Red '08:

The process went like this; pick colors from sample cards, order
custom paints (took about 10 days), strip off OEM gray metallic
coating, ScotchBrite the flat area of the rim at the bead edge, mask
rim area, apply red base coat, apply metallic coat, de-mask rim area,
    apply clear top coat.

The actual work on the rims took about a week, cost ~$650. I had a
second set of Touring rims that I got from a member here on PC to be
used for snow tires so the delay didn't matter.

I had the work done at EastCoast PowderCoat in North East, MD, near
    Aberdeen.

Looks great Rokeby! I like how the gray strip brings out the red. The powder coating place I used brought up matching the paint. However, I had my heart set on the glossy black to match the black roof. Not to mention I would go crazy cleaning the brake dust off of white rims (regardless of waxing the rims etc).

Thanks TruSound! Those black Gorilla lug nuts are nice! I wish I had known before ordering my wheel locks. Do you think they will fit the v? I briefly looked up some info and it was a little discouraging because the car is so new. Just worried that if I do decide to order the black ones ( I saw the Toyota/Nissan specific ones) that they wont fit. Oh well. I know if they want to steal it they will. Figured it would slow them down just a little bit ;)

The OEM Touring rims are unique in that the spokes don't go all the
way out to the bead edge and there is a flat ring about 1 in.wide.
I wanted some separation between the colored rim and the tire. If
the rims didn't have this feature, I wouldn't have done the 'coating.

When the OEM finish was stripped off, we found that the rim surface
was polished. That was too bright for the look I was after, so I had
    the ScotchBrite finish done.

All OEM Prius rims as a class are non-typical in that they have ridges/
depressions that the wheel covers snap into. This creates the
possibility of using an aftermarket trim/accent ring. It might take a
while to locate ones that don't have attachment issues due the curve
of the spokes; they'd have to be quite thin. An example that probably
wouldn't work but shows the tabs that would hold them to the rim:
