Hi all, first-time poster here... I've been lurking for some time though, thanks for all the great posts and great info.

I'm looking to get a 2011 Prius Two, but I'm finding local prices here in Connecticut to be bit different (i.e., higher) than what people are reporting for SoCal (or FL)!!!

Does anyone have recent experiences with Prius buying in the Northeast? I'm willing to go as far as NY, CT, MA, or RI.

    Thanks!

ps-Just realized my error in the title - should be Prius Two, not 'II'!!!

pps-I wanted to add this in, to help with the overall pricing disucussion! The lowest quote obtained thus far for a 2011 Prius Two (no optional equipment) is $22,9k+~$2k for tax, title, etc (either 0% for 36 mos or additional $750 cash). Not anywhere close to the ~$23k out-the-door prices recently reported for other regions :(

Welcome aboard and good luck in the search. I am sure you will be able to haggle a good deal somewhere. As gas prices go up the harder the search.

    Good luck with the hunt.

First off you really should take out TTL of your price comparison - what each person pays will depend on your location and also more importantly in most places the equity in your trade. Just compare the price that you will pay and realize that the tax, etc is going to be fixed.

My wife and I have had luck calling around to other dealers once we have figured out the car that we want. We let them know that we ready to buy and will do so if they have an acceptable car (color, options, etc) and we let them know what we are willing to pay, and that we are willing to walk into the dealership and buy the car on the spot. The 2 times that we have done this we got what we wanted for what we wanted to pay.

Just checking in again - thanks for the advice/tips that everyone gave me on the forum and thru PMs. Unfortunately, the CT and greater NY area dealers do not have as good of a deal on 2011's as reported by the southwest, mid-atlantic, and southeast buyers!

Last weekend, we ended up buying in NY (best deal for the color combo we wanted), here are the details:
2011 Prius 2 with mats, wheel locks, blu logic (bluetooth)
Classic silver w/ dark gray interior
    no trade
0 down, 0%/36 mos. Toyota financing
    $23k base price
    $1.8k in tax/tags/conveyance
    $24.8k out the door
-$500 bonus cash from a mailer we got
    -$50 test drive gift card
    = $24,250 grand total

It sounds like the going rate in some parts of the country is ~$21-21.5k... Our Prius, without wheel locks and blu logic would be ~$22.7k.

Well, that's the report from here... hope this helps someone out!
