I just grabbed two spoke roughly opposite each other and pulled straight away from the wheel.

There are little slots on the outside edges you can put a big flat screwdriver into as well.

You can buy center caps that are about 4 inches in diameter for the center hubs that have the Toyota insignia. Otherwise, you'll be looking at what appears to be a rusty hole. The caps look good on my wheels imho.

I understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I just don't find anything wrong with the stock wheel covers that cause me to want to remove them. I could see removing the covers if I were upgrading to bigger, low profile tires or something else. IMO, the wheel covers dress up the stock wheel and tire (a little bit). I keep mine shined up, so maybe that's why I don't object.

    Happy Motoring,

    Tom

The stock prius hubcabs can be removed in under a second. Simply grab two opposing spokes and with one fluid pull they pop right off. The prius looks 10 times better once you install caps on the center hole of the wheel. Those hubcaps are wall art in my garage now and will never be re-installed as long as we own the Prius.

I fell on my rear end taking off one of the covers. Then after its removal, I realized that the hub covers looked better then the wheels. After all, I'm gonna go with a larger tire/wheel package. For those of you who have gone down this path, are there any issues that I need to be concerned with. Thanks.

Thanks guys!!! I am so HAPPY I looked. You guys just saved me $500 by not buying new wheels for the new car my wife handed down to me. The factory hub caps are so ugly.

Yes, and you can keep the wheels and dust off the brake pads allot easier now. Just go to Lowes, or HomeDepot to buy a electrical box plug 1 1/2" (Push Penny) and paint them yourself you'll save more money that way than ordering from the stealership or eBay. Maybe $12 tops!

I'm fine w the stock wheel covers. I'd be willing to bet that 90% of non-Prius drivers think they're cool wheels and not plastic covers.

I have read threads before where this was discussed, some said the hubcaps were engineered to help with the gas mileage, help with turbulence around the wheels.
