Ok this question is for anyone who has their PIP w/Adv package:

    1. Remote Climate App - Every time I try to activate this function on my iPhone 4, it comes back unsuccessful. Anyone else get this to work.

    2. I don't even have the Eco Dashboard app on my iPhone 4. Anyone else get this yet?

I think the Eco dashboard is "coming this summer".

Mark--do you get an error message for remote climate? What temp is your car set to?

CharlesH is right, ECO dashboard is being released this summer. That's why you don't see it yet (and charging station map will also be available on your smartphone--not just the car's multimedia system starting this summer).

    Erica,

I have the same issue - I tell it to turn on the climate...and then after a while it tells me that the "Climate Activation was not successful - Please try again later" The auto temp in the car is set at 72 degrees.

    Hi Erica,
Thanks for asking. When I goto the Remote Climate applet on Entune i press the button for "Turn on Climate". It says "Sending request" and after a fairly long wait - minute or so - it returns a message "Climate Activation not successful. Please try again." I've tried this at least a dozen times over the last 4 days and never have been successful. I made sure the climate settings were "auto" and set for a normal temp. I have done the charge management function several times with no issues so I know that the car is communicating, just not for the climate system.

    Thanks,
    Mark

OK, maybe a silly question, but I have to ask you both...are the doors locked when you've tried this? They need to be locked for the Remote Climate app to function.

And you've tried other apps in the same location (ie it's not a cell coverage issue in those particular locations, right?)?

Please let me know and I'll ask the tech team for help on troubleshooting if I can't answer.

    Thanks,
    Erica

Doors locked, temp set, etc. I tried it with a fox, i tried it in a box. It does not, will not work, sam i am. :)

Specifically made sure the battery charge app worked but in no instance has the remote climate worked.

Add me to the list with the same problem. The battery charge app works but the climate control chokes every time out.

OK, next question...what is the battery state of charge your vehicle shows when you're trying the Remote Climate App and getting an error? ie. how many miles are displaying on the IP as your current "EV distance"?

    Thanks,
    Erica

It varies but seems to be accurate. I've tried it when fully charged and shows about 13 miles EV range. Right now mine shows about 80% and calls it 10 miles of EV distance. But, still no love on Remote Climate function.

OK, that's not it...(smartphone app only activates Remote Climate if the EV battery has charge, otherwise, if you're in charge sustaining mode, only the key fob will turn on the A/C). Now, it was SimiPrius who said his setting was at 72 degrees, what is your setting at? I'd suggest you try to set it at LOW, lock the doors and try again. If that doesn't work, I am out of troubleshooting territory and ready to get you on the phone with the engineers for help.

So, PM me if you want to share your phone number and I'll have them call you to help.

Erica - Update: I was walking back to my car - it was locked/remaining charge 2.8 miles/temp set at 72 degrees. Got the same error message as noted in the previous comments.

That did it for me. Thanks Erica. Must have been the temp wasn't set low enough to work.

Engineering feedback would be to make the error message more clear as to why the attempt was unsuccessful. Maybe even to list the criteria required for it to work, so even geeks like us that forget can make sure doors locked, battery has charge, etc.

    thanks again!

SimiPrius: try temp low. If I had to bet, yesterday was a little chilly and perhaps your setting of 72 was actually warmer than the outside temp and cabin temp so it perhaps didn't work.

ely105: glad that worked. See above for my thinking. I know we're in the process of posting some troubleshooting tips online (within the next 10 days or so) and the website will start getting more robust. I'll let the team know a clear list of top requirements would be helpful and see if we can put something together and post on PC.

Thanks for helping to troubleshoot with me!

    Best,
    Erica

    Erica,
Yes i agree with your thinking. I don't know what data the car returns if you request climate control and the temp differential makes it unneccesary. If it just times out then I suppose the app can only report unsuccessful. But if there's more data, maybe they could expose the reason why. Obviously if you could remotely set the temp via the app, that'd be cool but doubt they have control to that level.

I hadn't received my Prius Plug-in when this thread was originally started, but now that I've had a chance to try out Remote Climate within the Entune app, I'm realizing that it is not much more than a "Turn on Climate" button (the temperature gauge does not seem that useful).

I think the app would be more useful if it would let you view the outside temperature, inside temperature and current climate control setting before initiating a request to turn on the air conditioner. For example, if it were only 5 degrees hotter inside the car than outside, I might decide that its not worth the energy usage to cool it off before starting the car. I'm not sure if the system is currently setup to send this type of information over the Safety Connect system, or if it is something that could easily be added with a firmware update to the vehicle, but I'm hoping that the Hybrid Plug-in apps become more functional before the end of the trial period.
