I'm not a guru, but based on previous boats, it looks to be about a month from Japan to Newark with a stop in Jacksonville, FL.
Bob, 20 days to Panama Canal 4 days to Jacksonville 3 days to Newark If it left Japan on 3/3, expect at the Canal 3/23 PYXIS LEADER left Japan 7 Feb. Arrived Newark 6 Mar.
retired Both the Century Highway No. 2 and American Highway should be "in range" according to the posted schedule but neither is at this writing. Maybe the reason that we get such indefinite answers from the dealers is that the E in the ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) is the controlling issue. It is, after all, just an estimate. As you said, we wait and wait some more.
I hope that I didn't miss it in this thread somewhere but how do I find out which carrier my car was shipped on? The dealer hasn't been able to get much info. All that I know is that, per the toyota website, my Prius was built on 2/26/2012. Where/how do I find the ship that is transporting it to Benicia, CA? My order number was 132 and was confirmed within minutes so based on a first-in-first-out methodology, I should have happily had it weeks ago but I'm still waiting, with very little information. Any input/help would be greatly appreciated.
Allannde Just a thought, I think, if I remember right the day the American Highway left the port in Japan I thought it was strange because it said it left 2/28/12 only I was sure it was early 2/29/12. I know it said it would arrive Portland on the 12th But! If it left the 29th That would put it in Portland on the 13th not the 12th? Thoughts?

I noticed that this ship PYXIS - Vessel's Details and Current Position - 8514083 - 355999000 left Tahara on March 3 or 4 bound for Benicia. There would have been plenty of time to get your car on that ship. Notice that the estimated time of arrival in Benicia is 3/14.
retired You may have noticed that the American Highway just turned away from the west coast. Right now there is actually snow falling at the mouth of the Columbia! It will be better to wait to go up the river to Portland in the morning when it is light.
3 ships waiting now. Mostly about getting the pilots out to the ships. Bad weather, high winds, and sea conditions and Columbia River Bar surf make it difficult for the smaller boats. 28 knot winds showing. New time Destination: PORTLAND U.S.A. ETA: 2012-03-13 09:00 (UTC) 4 or 5 am now I guess east coast sometime.
I checked the Heijin and it states it's in port but when you view it on the map it's still out by Oxnard. I'm hoping the port description is correct Ken

American Highway might be awhile getting to port. 20 ft + swell with 20 ft breakers where the river meets the sea at "The Bar". Conditions may last all week. NDBC - NWS Forecast Something to watch now The primary method of pilot boarding is by helicopter. Not to night I think. http://www.columbiariverbarpilots.com/columbiariverbarpilots_transfers.html Destination: PORTLAND U.S.A. ETA: 2012-03-13 17:00 (UTC)
Fast Update: New Century 1 is off the coast of Baja Mexico (200 KM west/south west of Puerto San Carlos). About 6 days from Panama.
