It's likely. That is why I posted the Calculated vs. Indicated thread like we have in the GenIII and Prius v forums. It helps everyone understand the car better than the random unorganized posts we usually see.

    Latest fillup info:

    300 miles ÷ 5.9584 gallons = 50.35 mpg

My wife did not check the car's displayed mpg -- she hasn't had time to figure out all the display details.

Please see my original post at an earlier thread:

for info about our driving factors (but I will post at this new thread from now on). Lots of elevation changes and windy conditions.

I'll try to get her to start using the "fancy" electronics!

I purchased a Moonglow 3 with moon roof last Wednsday and have almost 600 miles on it, traded in my 2010 Honda Fit. It took an awful special car to make me part ways with the Fit. In pretty much all my short trips around town I am usually anywhere from upper 50's to upper 60's mpg's which i am very impressed with! Coming home from the video store today which is just a couple of miles I averaged 89.2!! I couldn't believe it. On a highway trip from Oshkosh to the Suamico zoo on Sunday I got 54 mpg's on the way up and 46 on the way back! That's about 130 miles round trip all highway. The computer is about 1 mpg above the real mpg's for me. I am loving the quiet ride compared to the Fit. And James, I see you live in good old Oshkosh. Would you happen to drive a Habenero C?? About 8:30 tonight I was going thru the 9th st. roundabout and almost hit the curb when I saw this awesome looking orange car cruising thru the other part of the roundabout when I realized it was another Prius C lol!! The dealer told me I was the very first registered Prius C owner in the state of Wisconsin, I thought that was pretty cool.

Hey James, I picked up a moonglow C 3 with moonroof last Wednesday and am loving it!! I see you are from Oshkosh as well and was wondering if your C is the habenero one i saw cruising thru the 9th street roundabout around 8ish?? I saw this cool orange colored hatch and had my head turned looking at it when I realized it was the only other C I've seen in Oshkosh, I was so fixated I almost hit the curb lol!!

I purchased the Prius C 3 Saturday and I drove my girlfriend to college and by the time I came back, the gauge told me that I got 70.4mpg over 43 miles!!! This was due to using the pulse and glide hypermiling technique and being conscious of my driving. When I get more used to the car, I am sure I will get over 80mpg.

Have had my Prius C for about a week now, I am getting 60 mpg city and 53 highway.... my only quips are the sound system is not great even with 6 speakers and the glare on the navigation screen during the day... bothers me ... but the MPG's are amazing:rockon:

I'm curious how you calculated that split mpg.

I picked up my Prius c Two on Monday. I drove from Durham to Charlotte, NC for a consortium meeting yesterday, and returned by way of Winston-Salem -- 449.5 mi of mainly interstate with a little in-town -- 56.3 mpg. Granted, my tires were roughly 32 psi -- I'm taking them up to 40 today.

Filled up today, car indicated 53.4 mpg's. With 433.9 miles and 8.463 gallons actual mpg's were 51.27. That was slightly over half highway and the rest city. I am quite pleased with those numbers and get even better in all city driving.

Just drove 25 miles home from the dealer yesterday in new Prius c Two, mostly highway, and averaged 50.6 MPG, about half in Eco mode.

    Calculated... ??

i set the trip meter went to work on the streets, from where I live to Long beach, and then I set the trip meter b... and drove back on the hwy. That's what I got... :) I was hypermiling in the city and just did cruise control on the hwy.

i had a 2008 dodge avenger... and i was going to the gas station every 3 to 4 days... now i put 20 bucks since i purchased it 3 weeks ago. at 4.29 per gallon here in California..

Well, I've joined the ranks, and new to the forums. Last night I traded in my 2008 Yaris of Doom and picked up a blue C 3. I live in Seattle where it is hills everywhere and lots of bumper to bumper traffic, so I sadly wont see the astronomical mileage you guys are getting. Combined on my 19 mile trip to work this AM it read 52.7. I havent filled it yet so I cant calculate actual.

Side note: Gliding is HARD in this thing. The sweet spot where it isnt using battery or gas is very small. I need to train my foot to be VERY still i guess.

    Cheers!

This is my 3rd day with the Prius C and each of the 32 mile trips from rural Maryland (near Pennsylvania line) to downtown Baltimore have resulted in 60-plus MPG according to the car's computer. Based on how little the fuel gauge has gone down, this may be right. The first two days, I "babied" the car and was very conservative in my driving. Today, I drove more aggressively...but still keep the cruise control set on 65 mph on the highway. I still got 61 mpg to work. Some early observations:
    1. It takes awhile for the MPG to go up to the max. I particularly see the numbers go up when I get into the city and I'm crawling along on battery power.
    2. I'm not using any accessories except the radio. I tried the air conditioner (works fine) but I suspect that will suck MPG.
    3. The electric motor in my car actually goes as high as 32 mph, which surprised me. I thought it would be limited to 25 mpg. Again, I am driving gently.
So far, my wife and I are thrilled.

I've put about 450km on my prius c and have averaged 4.7L/100km, which is just about 50mpg on the nose. The city/highway variation is much less than the uphill/downhill variation. Even in a relatively flat city like Toronto, if I am driving toward the lake, which is slightly downhill, I get much better fuel economy (3.6L/100km::65mpg) than the opposite (6L/100km::40mpg). Driving a closed loop -- provided the distance is long enough to get rid of noise -- I get somewhere between 4.4L/100km (53mpg) and 5L/100km (47mpg) 90% of the time.

I just topped off the tank of my prius c for the first time today and I averaged 42.3 mpg. My computer said I was averaging 41.9 so it appears to be quite accurate. I figured I would use my first tank driving in the same manner I drove my old vehicle to see what kind of mileage I would get. I sold my Toyota Tundra V8 so that I could buy the C. I'm happy I did! I know my driving technique will get better and after this fill up I am on a mission to improve my mpg into the 50's.

    edfishel,

remember that for the break-in period of 1000 miles your prius c should not be driven at one speed for extended periods. I was told to forget about cruise control until then.

^Not a big deal unless you're driving on a completely flat surface all the time, as the RPMs will fluctuate to maintain the same speed on inclines and declines.

    Thanks, Luthyone!

Finally topped off the tank after 188 "mixed" miles...short haul as well as longer trips. Took 4.1 gallons = 46 mpg. Includes some air conditioning and some heater.

Note that short fills are a notoriously unreliable measure due to the potential variation in refueling being a higher proportion of the total fill.
