Which dealer did you buy the car from out of curiosity? I'm not sure if mine has the power to do that, though at the very least the AAA office is literally across the freeway.

Piercey Toyota, Milpitas. I mailed the application today. :thumb:

When I bought the car, they pushed the Extended Warranty and the Prepaid Maintenance, but that was the only annoyance. There was no question about the cost of the vehicle with the chosen port accessories.

Here's to hoping all your trips are under 69 miles. That's the cut off before even the $12,000 cheeper Gen II Prius will get better mileage than you.

Getting back to this topic... I picked up my PiP tonight (YAY!) and the dealer (Geweke Toyota in Lodi) was awesome. Todd, who runs sales, had an awesome idea to accelerate submitting the sticker application. He's going to be asking his DMV person to see if they can get the plate assigned tomorrow; and then he'll fill in the plate on the application and mail it in immediately. (I had prepared for him the form, a check, and a stamped envelope).

    Fingers crossed!!

yes - that's right. i've been thru this process twice now, once with an '06 prius and once with the leaf.

in the case of the '06 prius i sent in the application without the plate # filled in. the DMV actually held it until the plates were assigned, filled in the form, and processed it for me.

probably that was some kind of miracle though, because i've heard lots of stories of people having their applications sent back if the licence plate was not filled in.

on the leaf, i just kept calling the DMV and asking if they had a plate number in their system for my VIN. one day they said yes, and read it to me. i then filled in the sticker form and sent it in.

so you don't need the plates in your possession, there just has to be a plate number assigned to your VIN in the DMV's computer.

I figured out the best way to see if the green sticker has been processed by the DMV is if the check has been cashed (bank info online)-
ok so it has been 7 years since I last sent a sticker check to the DMV...

Yep. Previous Volts didn't qualify due to emissions.

Which is maybe why Chevrolet suspended production due to excessive inventory :)

BTW, my $8 check has not been cashed yet, but I only mailed it a week ago.

    14. Q: How soon will I receive the CAV decals?
A: Applications are processed in the order they are received and usually within 30 business days

Yeah, well unfortunately, as I feared, I don't have a plate number assigned yet (going on 7 days now), so I'm sitting on my hands before I can even submit the application and sit on my hands another 30 days.

BTW, last fall I submitted for white stickers for a CNG car and that took 20 days to receive. I think they do them in batches, and you can either be as quick as a week or as long as a month depending on when you get in the queue and which batch you get processed in.

I mailed in the application on March 7th and my check was cashed on March 13th. If I remember the process from 2006 accurately, I think it took 4 or 5 days from the time my check was cashed to receive the decal.

I sent my check and application in on 3/1 and I saw it was just deducted from my account on 3/13/12.

Maybe it deserves its own thread, but there is also that CVRP rebate check in process.

Yes, well, that's not what happened. Not sure why the reg. wasn't filed for a week, but then yesterday a compounding challenge came up due to a hiccup in the financing paperwork. So the promise now is we'll get the paperwork thing worked out by tomorrow or Friday and then they'll expedite getting me the plate info that day. I'm sure they mean well...just frustrating watching the open carpool lane while I slog through the traffic. Here's crossing my fingers and knocking wood that this gets resolved this week.

Well good luck this time around anyway. I don't have a daily commute, but am certainly looking forward to having the HOV option when I need it!:D

They must have processed a batch of requests. My application was mailed Tuesday March 6 and the check cleared Wednesday March 14.
