Outside I use Stoners or even water and a microfiber towel. Inside is just water and microfiber towel.

Uh, filtered water should do fine? it have a pH of 6, lack the salt but adequate CO2.

Sometime I feel fancy to diluted 1/100 of glass cleaner solution with filtered water.

Not in my experience: you need something with solvents every so often. I think a lot of people resort to changing wiper blades more frequently than needed, when in fact their windshields are building up a film.

If you buy it at Advance or Pep Boys it is about the same as the other no names.

Maybe part of it is the enviroment I live in...much rain. But I have found no chemical that I like as well as simple water.

I tend to keep up with it, and never let my windshield either outside or inside get too dirty, but my best results have come with water and micro-fiber or paper towel. The edge to micro-fiber.

On the outside? Once clean I usually apply rain-X.

But I've tried most of the glass cleaners out there, and I like none of them.

Anyone have any great tips or tricks for cleaning the window and dashboard where they meet with one another? I swear you need to be a contortionist to clean this area...

At auto parts stores they sell a device that's a rod with a triangle shaped pad for getting to hard-to-reach window areas.

Walgreens or other store with an AS SEEN ON TV! section...look for the windshield wonder. Actually works as advertised and comes with 2 microfiber pads.

The original one of those (and the one which seems to be better made) is made by the Invisible Glass people and you will often find it discounted substantially if bought at the same time as a bottle or two of Invisible Glass (or vice versa, I don't remember). It is quite handy to use, but a bear to find a place for in the car. Quite awkward to keep in the car, it is best kept wherever you keep your car wash supplies but then again, who needs it daily?

A friend of mine told me he uses a mixture of vinegar and water to clean the glass on his car. I think I'm going to give it a shot the next time I do the windows.

I honestly think it has a lot to do with how dirty your windshield gets...or you allow it to get.

In the Pacific Northwest, the exterior usually never gets too dirty because of the amount of rain always falling. Especially if you use Rain-X or a similar product.

So for me? I have found simply using water the best approach. Water with a clean Micro-Fiber.

I'd guess in different climates, perhaps dryer area's you might need harsher or more active products to keep the windshield clean.

But just for kicks, over the years I've tried just about all of them, and even when they say they don't streak? They do.

When i saw the title of your post i was going to put Water and a Newspaper. But you said that right away. I use water and newspaper.

How many of you guys tried this. I tried windex and microfiber, but is seems like more work. The water and newspaper doesn't streak. I don't know why it works but it does.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before in this thread, but I've always used Stoners Invisible Class. It's a great product. I usually spray just a little bit on the inside and outside of my windows and wipe clean with a microfiber cloth. Love it! Plus, it's ammonia free so it's safe for tinted glass.

Just wanted to stop in and say, "Thanks" to all of you that recommended Invisible Glass. I found it in a non-aerosol spray and it works great and solves my water spot problem on the back window. I love the stuff!! :D

Water and Newspaper didn't work when I tried it. :(

OK, I parked my new Prius/5 days old where I always park and they just layed SOD and evidently have a automatic sprinkler system. It covered the left side of the car with white spots and film and is difficult to get rid of. Washing it is the 70% solution but I still get a rough texture after windex.

    Help!
